Tremor Tow Ratings - Buyer Beware!

Just curious — has anyone written/emailed/called an exec at Ford for clarification?

I’ve done it in the past with a phone call to Brian Bell —long story, my 2019 F150 Limited had a major issue when it arrived and it took Ford to get the dealership to correct it. I think the confusion surrounding the tow rating should be shared with the folks at Ford.

53A. The tow package and added the cameras. As far as the parts manager and I could tell, that was the only way to guarantee the max tow.
That's the way my build currently sits. I'll keep 53A on until I am certain I can get 10,900 with 17T, but I'm not optimistic.

Did this ever get sorted?
Nah, not really. They did change the pricing of the packages, essentially dropping the ‘trailer tow’ package from something like a $1090 option to like $220 (or something around there). That makes me believe that Ford finally ‘corrected’ everything in their system acknowledging that option really doesn’t add anything major…which I tend to think supports the thought that ‘all Tremors’ are rated to tow 10,900, regardless of package.
But, fully sorted and transparent? No.

It’s weird on the base model it is still showing as a $1,325 option. I didn’t order it, and I really don’t want to if I have to. I’ll probably end up calling the dealer tomorrow.

It’s up to $450ish after those price increases. On 402A anyway

Don’t be shocked if your dealer can’t tell you anything…or gives you a less than confident answer. My dealer couldn’t tell me anything, said they’d check, and my guy ended up asking a service tech and they ‘decided’ it was a difference in leaf springs. Who knows.
If you tow a lot, want every towing bell and whistle, and aren’t pinching pennies, get it. I ordered a 401a - because I’m just a little frugal, but HAD to have the 360 degree cameras so I went with the Tow Tech package.

This breaks down what comes with each package just to give you an idea.
So these are the differences we could expect to see vs a Tremor that does not have the Trailer Tow Package?

For instance, on every engine except the base 3.3L V6, the Trailer Tow Package also adds an engine oil cooler to keep the truck from overheating under the heavier strain of towing. Other mechanical upgrades include a heavier front stabilizer bar and, on some models, an auxiliary transmission oil cooler. Finally, the package adds a tailgate LED that makes hitching a trailer in the dark a much easier experience

Looks like we would effectively have the Max Tow Package as well since we have the locker, 3.73 gears, 36 gallon tank, trailer brake controller, etc. Not sure what constitutes an upgraded rear bumper though.

Pretty much is the max tow from everything I see, as long as you ordered the tow package, but like you I don't see what constitutes the upgraded rear bumper.

Good article. I'd love to see something more model-specific. That article seems to be written to cover 150's and the super-dutys not to mention the subtle differences between models in the 150's. For instance, what does it ADD to the TREMOR? We already get, standard, the 4/7 pin harness, 3.73's, 36 gallon tank, hitch, all that. I'm curious if we also get - STANDARD - oil cooler and trans cooler - which would support others claims of "all Tremors are rated to tow the same" and also perhaps support the now relatively low cost of the Trailer Tow package.
Still inconclusive to me...and it doesn't really matter as my truck is "in production"....but I would just like to KNOW.

You cannot have both. I went in and worked with the parts manager to figure all this out and he showed me his ordering system wouldn’t let him pick both.
I seem to have both…? Not to keep stirring this pot but this is my sticker. Maybe this one was ordered or built this way as a 400a on purpose.🤷🏻

FWIW,
When I placed my order at Granger, I said I wanted to make sure I needed to have the 10,900lbs towing. I had a 402a w Tow Tech on my order sheet. I was confirmed directly that it would tow the 10,900lbs.
