A couple of things to consider...
1. A solenoid/power interrupt kit (Warn 62132) will provide a safer install so that there isn't a live power cable at the front of the vehicle that could be cut in the event of an accident (given that it goes from the winch directly to the battery.)
2. The kit can be wired to one of the aux switches so that you have cabin-controlled power to the winch and don't have to deal with the winch-mounted power switch.
I just recently installed my kit to the battery housing and can recommend this location - plenty sturdy and as close as you can get to the battery (the provided positive cable is around 18" so you don't have much to play with if you mount it elsewhere.) I used some large washers on both sides for additional bracing. A few pics below to show the solenoid and location better. I'm getting ready to install the Swarfworks mount and a Warn Zeon 12-S Platinum - wallet took a big hit on those!
