I think this is a systemic problem everywhere. Where I work we have been hiring top tier A Techs away from the local dealers because they are tired of working nights and weekends and for flat rate. Good for us, bad for getting my truck fixed.One of the reason you buy a Ford or Chevy is the large dealer network. I thought it would come in handy if I ever a had a problem out of town. I will need to rethink that strategy.
I just asked a couple of them why Ford might do this...the response was that they may not have a qualified/trained mechanic in that neck of the woods. Or, Ford knows something no one else does and wants to move it to a known dealer that keeps things quiet.
Who knows.
