5.0 vs Ecoboost

I agree with all those points except #4. It doesn’t matter how much money you throw at it, it’s always going to sound like a gay hamster farting after a hot date.
I'm tempted to make a second account named RichardGere just to like this comment.

Keep fighting the good fight brother.

We are decades from EVs being a reality for everyone, let alone for trucks. A Lightning wouldn’t even be a viable option for me right now. Just straight up doesn’t have the capacity to do the work that I need it to do.

It’ll get better but we are a long way off, even if the battery tech was there the infrastructure isn’t there. And that includes California.

I went with the 5.0 personally keeping it simple and better sound cylinder deactivation has been around for a while that dont worry me now the 3.5 with a twin turbo pushing a v6 to 400hp same as the v8 is a little more stress on the engine in my opinion and more things that can go wrong later down the road with added electronics i been a heavy equipment mechanic for since 2013 and every turbo issue i have seen has not been pretty and very costly and they dont last forever thats for sure but everyone has their own opinions do what best suits your needs
Same here, agreed!

ICE vs EV, no good fight to fight, EV will win all the time.
I was referring to your comment about an American truck needing a V8.

“Muh diddy always say no replacement for displacement. “

Decades away, that is Jay Leno material ! LMAO
There are major upgrades to the grid that need to happen before we can all have EVs. California occasionally put restrictions on when you can charge your EV because the grid is overtaxed. Hell I had to run the generator for 5 hours on Christmas Eve morning because Duke had to do rolling blackouts because wait for it,….it got cold and people needed to run their heat.

WTF, how come everyone doesn’t have their entire roofs covered in solar panels and their yards full of windmills? Oh ya, because that little red box can do more on a gallon of gas. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I'm a big fan of anything that can heat my home, run the AC or get me where I'm going (and back). I've been in to Hydrogen fuel cells for over 2 decades, love the idea of fusion power, build batteries for off grid and auxiliary power use and recently purchased an Ebike. There is absolutely nothing available today that is a single solution for our energy needs as a population.

More importantly, my 5.0 has less torque than my 3.5 and while there is nothing quite so rewarding as a lopey v8 with side pipes, torque with range is king, for me.

Perhaps if you want to go fast, you should consider a Z06 or a GT500, not an F150.

A V8 2023 Tremor finally showed up on Youtube, here's the startup sound. I am pumped, I am also on chip hold though, don't think it'll make the Jan 4th delivery Ford Chat told me lol.

There is another clip I posted if you look up Avalanche 5.0 startup thread. You'll like to hear that one.

I bought a new '18 F150 3.5EB. I was happy with it until my friend bought the same truck but with a 5.0 and put a Rousch exhaust on it. Who cares if it's a fraction of a second slower 0-60, that truck sounds soooo good every time he excelerates. One ride in it and I knew I made a mistake. The 3.5 sounds like a sewing machine.

This truck will possibly be the last ICE truck I buy and as I originally came from England where a V8 is a rarity, I'm taking the opportunity to have a truck with a emotional connection - hence my choice of the 5.0

I currently have a 2.7EB and it's a great engine. I know the EB is the better engine according to all the statistics but I'm only towing a couple of snowmobiles in the winter or a 5000lb boat a few miles a couple of times a year. I don't need the best, most powerful, most torquey engine out there. The 5.0 with 400hp/ 410tq is more than adequate for my needs.

Plus it sounds good. And now I wait impatiently for it to be built.

Loud pipe’s, turbo’s and superchargers sound so good. No doubt about it, but when you tow for 500 plus miles you get really tired of the noise and only a liar will tell you different. If you have family and friends with you, they were tired of it a 100 miles into your trip. Neighbors are tired of it after the first cold start at 6 a.m. Every time you hot rod down the street to show off, the acceleration impressed no one. Plus you still get passed going up the hill by sewing machines. Buy a Harley if you want something loud and obnoxious. Yes, I’m getting old.

This cracks me up. I've got the 5.0 on order after a long interramal deliberation about which engine to go with. (Although I don't plan on making it any louder.) I think it really comes down to who you know. I had my BIL, his business partner, and a good friend all have some major fault with their 3.5s within the last 2 years, all under 100k miles, one under 40k. It started a negative/distrusting outlook on their trucks. No longer did they want to use it as the road trip vehicle for family or a random adventure too far from home. Let alone tow something. That sorta killed the point of the trucks. All three went V8 and left Ford altogether in the last 18 months. (GMC, and 2 Rams). I also know plenty of people who also adore their 3.5s and have never had any issues, but when you see friends or family give up the brand altogether, it makes you double think a near $70K purchase based on a torque figure. (Towing isn't exactly the first thing the Tremor team envisioned when designing it anyway IMO, although I know we all appreciate the extra towing over a raptor.) Even when the problems were under warranty and possibly a defect or factory install error, I know the felling of not trusting a vehicle anymore, and the V8 to me and many represent a lower chance of that mistrust occurring. The tone is just a bonus. (Side note I love me a turbo car though, my VW Golf R was a gem.)
