- A bunch of Motorcycles, TetonX
First post here. I'll put something on the Intro Forum later.
This is a shout out to all of you who posted on this thread. After reading through the different posts over the last few years, it answered every question I had. I had already zeroed in on the Airlifter 5000 but the cradle was the key to the puzzle running around my hamster wheel.
Earlier this year I bought a Teton X from the folks at Atlas Outdoors. I picked it up in St George Utah, and drove it to Arizona so I could do a few days of camping with my high school friends, before having to head back east to get home in Pennsylvania. Total trip length was 6000 miles, with over 300 miles on dirt, part of it following the first 2 days of the Arizona Back Country Discovery Route. Funny, my friends, who are avid 4 wheelers, never heard of the BDRs. Admittedly, my background includes adventure riding on motorcyles, and the BDRs were developed by that crowd. It was a great time. Upon attaching the trailer, I noted how much the back of the truck dropped. I also had a lot of support equipment in the back, such as tools, tall bottle jack, Bluetti power bank, etc. It was never really an issue, but I knew I had to do something. The truck did great!. I was mostly on gravel roads but a few were pretty rocky and a couple of steep rocky climbs were in the mix.
This picture is on the way back when I camped in Arkansas. I had to back the trailer down a steep little embankment in order to get water from a creek using a Guzzle H2O. You can see from the picture how low to the ground the hitch was. Hopefully, I will gain some ground with the airbags. The trailer uses airbags as its suspension too, allowing to adjust height, and level the trailer at camp. It has an on board ARB compressor with an airport at the front of the trailer to air-up tires, so that will come in handy for the trucks airbags.
