What's new

Are there any Raptor owners who converted over to the new F150 Tremor?

Outstanding !!! Yes, I'm a Bruin and also a cancer doc (hematology/oncology). I realize more and more with each passing day how short life is, and while my DNA causes me to be hard wired to save/sacrifice/wait for tomorrow, I should know better in terms of not waiting forever.
My brother and sister are Trojans, so you can imagine how that gets during our rivalry game. I'm a huge college football and bball guy myself, and went to every UCLA home bball game my first 3 years: I was there for the amazing rivalry games between UCLA and U of A during the early and mid 90's-- it was such a different time and the quality of college ball then was light years better than the game of the last 10-12 years.

Thanks for the advice on the Raptor: yes I can get it at MSRP, which is why it's hard to justify getting the Tremor right now. I could definitely see the Tremor (or AT4/AT4X) being the right truck for me one day-- but not just yet-- at least if I want to have some fun in my truck.
I"ve had 2 porsche's (a 987 Cayman S) and a 997.2 Carrera GTS and loved them both for different reasons, but I'm partial to the mid engine platform.
But the car I really want one day is either the 718 Spyder or 718 GT4....... the plan was to order one before covid hit, but my life took a turn with some adversity and everything got put on hold. All good though: one day, fingers crossed.

Congrats on your amazing rides.......... would love to meet up and check them out one day. And the 911T is such an underrated car: most people have no idea the mods that can be done to make it comparable to a GT3 on the track.

The 718 Spyder is now officially my wife's DD, she drives it way more than me. 12 years ago she earned a second date because she drove a manual, the rest is history. Quickly learned I'm not a convertible guy. Having driven it, a 718 GT4, and a 987 GT4, I'd take the 2016 all day. Steel brakes and buckets, done. Considerably more driver input than the 718, and noise.
The T is a dream. Rear axle steering, shorter gearing, short throw shifter, torque vectoring, LSD, gorilla glass, 50lbs less sound deadening, PASM, chrono, etc, it is the ultimate enthusiast car in made in the 2000s. In total, they made 620 of them, I have # 620.

I have done some bolt-ons. Cats, headers, intake. Already give GT3s a fit at the track. APR tune and charge pipes will go on in May when warranty expires. Hello 600hp.

Those USC/UCLA games have to be fun. :) I played football at UofA (2006-2008), wife played softball at ASU. We dont even talk to eachother some weeks. :)

I don't want to hijack this thread so I won't geek out on Porsche, as I'll probably get banned. One final point on the GT4/Spyder: I drove my buddy's 981 GT4 before I moved back west from south Louisiana a couple of years ago, and it was all I expected it to be, and then some. I"ve also driven another friend's prior gen 987 Spyder some time back in 2013, and I WISH I had gotten that car at the time: to this day, it was the most balanced, best looking mid engine Porsche they've ever made.......IMHO.

I'll leave you with this: among my various fun cars (S5, M2, the aforementioned P cars and a Shelby GT350), the Shelby is the car I miss most. Given that you're a serious enthusiast, I would recommend you get behind the wheel of a 350 if you haven't already. I'll be shocked if the sound of that flat plane crank V8 doesn't put a massive smile on your face.
And this is coming from a German sports car snob who now has mad respect for what the Ford racing team has done in recent years.

I will say this: the Tremor felt as quick, if not quicker, than a Gen 2 raptor in normal mode. And I'm sure it's even livelier in sport mode. However, the handling of the trucks is just apples and oranges when comparing them. Granted, my drive in the Tremor wasn't as long as it was in my buddy's Raptor, but the Raptor just felt like a 'no holds bar' vehicle, while I had to be a bit more careful in the Tremor, which is what I would expect.

I have a 2018 Raptor now and had a loaded Tremor on order. I opted to keep my Raptor as I don't have the towing and trail needs that I feel the Tremor provide. My turning point was spending 30 minutes at the dealer and visually comparing them side by side. It really came down to the amount of money I would have to throw into the Tremor to make it more comparable to the Raptor and knowing that visually it still didn't do it for me. I didn't drive the Tremor as OEM ride and engine performance weren't factors in my consideration.

You can see some of our previous discussions about it on these threads:

thanks: I actually posted on that first thread (I had a post right above your last one I think): on the "Tremor isn't a Raptor" thread.
Having now driven both a 2021 Tremor and a 2019 Gen 2 Raptor, (albeit less time spent in the Tremor), they are very different trucks, as they're meant to be. The Tremor drives like a typical F-150 with a slightly better suspension set up than a FX4 package. The raptor has a vastly different suspension set up and drives like a Tremor and Mustang GT had their DNA extracted and used to build a purpose driven racing truck. And I expect the Gen 3 raptor to be that much better overall.

Gen 2 Raptor owner (2017 model) that just switched to the 2022 402a+ Tremor and am loving it.

Agreed "Sport Steering Mode" on my Gen 2 Raptor felt like it was on rails, BUT my 2022 Tremor gives it a run for its money all day on everything else daily driving-related. Sure, I would not jump the Tremor, but I didn't have the occasion to jump the Raptor either ;^)

Gen2 Raptor owner (2020) that flipped it on a 2022 402A a few weeks ago. No regrets so far. No issues with the Gen2 although putting Premium fuel in sucked. When it got below 1/4 tank the gas stations wouldn't allow the pumps to fill it up. It sucks putting in $125 and only seeing 7/8 of a tank.

The only *minor* thing about the Tremor is the rake. I may just throw some sand bags in the bed and be done with it.

Hi there. Had a Gen 2 (2018) that I traded for a Tremor. ONLY because I needed a new truck asap as my Raptor was giving me too many issues and I need my truck for work. What sold me on the Tremor was having the same cab/interior as the Raptor. I wanted another Raptor but I couldn’t fathom dropping 103k (So Cal pricing/$20k markup) on a work truck.
The Tremor rides real nice. I don’t like the leather in the Tremor compared to my Gen2. It seems cheap…and it doesn’t have a nice tight finish to it. Again, it seems cheap. My gen2 had a carbon fiber interior. It was so nice. The Tremor interior is nice but has materials I’ve never seen. It’s odd to me. Maybe I’m too picky, idk. Maybe I just miss my Raptor. One thing is certain, you are correct to say the Tremor will not hold value. I got 59k for my Raptor. I probably could have pushed for more. The dealer listed it at 77k. I want to upgrade suspension on the Tremor but I am having a hard time finding a kit. BDS is what I want but their current 2021 won’t work with Tremor package.
I completely agree on the interior of the Tremor, and this is in part where Ford loses me. The leather is rather 'meh' c/w the Raptor, let alone the Platinum or Limited. I think for the price of the Tremor high package, there should be nicer leather.

FYI: I drove my buddy's Gen 2 raptor again, and it sealed it for me. There is just no comparison between the 2 trucks in terms of fun factor. They are totally different animals: both are excellent DD's and will do great on long trips, but the Raptor is a true baja sports truck that handles unreal for something that size. The tremor is a comfortable off road truck that tows well.

One other thing: for the price tag--especially if you get a high end package-- the tremor should come with coil springs and not tube shocks in the rear, although I get why in part it's set up that way if you're going to tow a lot.

Great points and either truck will imo make you a happy camper. The lower stance of the Tremor and more practical everyday driving makes sense as well. The Raptor is just bad Ass with the 37 package but would never use her and abuse her like I would the Tremor. I think it’s awesome Ford has these model trucks because so many years ago we didn’t and you would have to switch brands to get something different. Ford was smart being they give us a whole fleet of really nice trucks to pick and choose. No other manufacturers offer the complete line up in trucks like Ford Does😎

I love Raptors and off roading like no other. Doing a Raptor run with a bunch of enthusiast is so much fun. But is something I don't have enough time for or the money to be constantly doing. Drifting your $80K+ truck and beating the piss out it gets expensive. You never run out of parts you want to buy or think you need. A true enthusiast won't be happy until they basically have a luxury pre runner built. I down sized to UTV's. The new ones are built like little trophy trucks these days and you get way more bang for your money. (My rock crawler even sits now) If you break them they are way cheaper to fix but offer the same adrenaline. Yes the Gen3 and Raptor R tempt me. But most Raptor owners don‘t even use their trucks for anything more than a daily driver. The Raptor is the new Escalade for men. Nothing wrong with that, but comparing the Tremor to the Raptor is not even fair for either truck. No one “needs a Raptor”, but everyone wants one. And once you have one, a lot of people decide they don’t “need one”.

I had the new Tremor 2.5" level kit from RC installed and it's perfect (did not lower the rear for towing reasons).

The reason for putting premium in your Raptor still exists with the Tremor and the turbo'd EB engine. It's a 20 HP gain, improved gas mileage and a cleaner engine.

I do this anyways in my Tremor. Hurts my balls filling the 36 gallon with 93, but for me it's worth it.

Yep...it was $140 this morning and had to run the card twice...I hate those filling limits. I also run non-ethanol premium in all of my small engines.

I try not to let the tank get too much below 1/2 tank, that way it doesn't seem as bad with the gas prices being up $1.50 per gallon. Just the way I prevent from crying at the pump, and our gas prices are cheaper here than in most other locations. If I had to pay over $4.00 a gallon I would hook up the house and drag to a new location.

I was told that 87 is what is recommended and there is not the "Premium Octane Only" sticker that is inside of the fuel door. I still haven't been through the first tank that the dealer put in (which was 87)

Thx - been looking at all the threads on this, not 100% sure what I am planning at this point.
