Im trying to decide what lights to use. Id like to see some output pics with this setup. Im debating 3 fogs vs. 5 with 3 fogs and driving lights. Not sure which series lights i want to use. Planning on the DD SS3s. There were a couple earlier in the thread but it would be nice to see from the truck looking out the windshield "downrange" and which lights they are. Thanks
I can’t help with output shots of this setup, but I can provide insight into the beam patterns.
You aren’t going to get much down range light at all with 3 fog pods. And honestly, I do t think you will gain much from the third pod being a fog. It’ll just be overlapped by the beam of the 2 side pods.
The setup I’ve advised to many people who want better fog coverage as well as more distance out of their lighting is as follows.
3 pod setup: use fog lenses on the sides on one switch. Then use a driving lens on the middle pod on a separate switch. You could include all 3 on the same switch if you want. The driving lens is a good combo of distance with some width. Here’s a pic of the SS3 max driving I have on my a-pillars
5 pod setup: again I’d use fog lenses for the outside pods. Like on their own switch. The. I’d do driving for the 2 pods inside of the fogs and a spot for the center pod. This would give you some long distance light down the center and the driving pods would supplement that with theIr wider beam. Then you’d have the fogs in close with extreme width.
Relative to which power level, that’s really up to you and your budget. I’m very happy with the SS3 max. I went through sport, then pro, then finally to max and the max is what I was looking for out of my pods.
The pros would be perfectly fine though. I was a bit underwhelmed with the sports. Especially with the combo lens.
Hopefully this insight helps you out.
Also, you can use code LDFTTREMOR for free shipping at Diodes website.
And I still have a few of the plug n play harnesses for this setup along with the upfitter harnesses.
