Battery Drain

Glad to hear that the mystery has been solved but I hate to hear that repair price.
As far as the ESP goes, in my opinion and regardless of the brand of vehicle and model, if an ESP is available from the manufacturer and one plans on keeping the vehicle beyond the factory warranty and if it can be purchased in their state, an ESP should be purchased because there's just too many things that can go wrong on modern vehicles.

I'd be driving a 2001 F150 with 500k miles then!! That's CRAZY they don't allow extended warranties???? The heck is the logic????
Extended Warranties are available in Florida, It's my understanding that you can't buy it from an Out-of-State Vendor for some reason.
Got mine through my local Ford Dealer when I bought the truck, but could have waited till closer to the 36/36 Warranty being almost gone.
I'm sure it's more expensive from the Florida Ford Dealers or if you wait till close to Factory Warranty Expiration than it is through Granger.

I was able to extended the ESP Coverage on my 2013 F-150 by calling Ford Directly, but don't know if you can purchase a New Warranty directly from Ford or not.

That definitely bites on the cost of the proposed repair. I'd be calling the Ford Complaint Department and see what they can do about at least taking care of part of the repair since it's a known problem.

Very crazy indeed.
Unless it's legalized political bribery from the NCDA in FL and other states, I just don't understand how this is legal.

I had reached out to Zach for the ESP but the one he offers isn't available here. I took that as meaning the Ford ESP is not available here but I may be wrong and will be finding out in the morning.

I had well over 250k on my last vehicle, with the majority being trouble free AFTER 100k miles. The company was Route 66 and I had reached out to them before this started but dropped the ball following up after finding out I can only purchase their warranty through my credit union or other providers they have. Following up on that one in the morning too.

We own two Fords and my wife's already talking about selling both. Hopefully when all gets resolved things will go smoother. Gritting my teeth saying that after my experience with the transmission lol.

I had no idea on the ESP out of state vendor portion. If I can pick one up still ill give it a shot. Just shy of being out of the standard powertrain warranty and have the CPO Gold power train until 100k.

And I will DEFINITELY be getting on with Ford regarding this as a known issue. Im in north California right now. This dealer was equal distance to the one in Oregon and was still 1 hour 45 minutes away.

Excellent news from Ford's customer support!

I now have a case number and when I bring it to the dealer next week they can assist us in some way if this would have been something covered during the 3/36, which i believe it would have been.

On my 15 SuperCrew and on the 23 Tremor I both got the ESP warranty. Too much electric shit on these trucks nowadays. Insurance companies mandating all these nannies. When I'm done using this one I will probably buy an imported diesel truck with no emissions standard transmission and no bullshit to go wrong. The only advancement I thought was good was one backup camera for the trailer hitch. They just replaced my bending headlight. Which I found out there's no fixing you replace the whole unit. I'm happy with halogen lights, and I could put a bulb in for $12. I like my 12 volt Outlets to be live all the time I don't need a battery management system. I had problems with my truck but the battery going dead when I first bought it I ended up turning all the welcome shit off. It also stays plugged into a battery charger tender cuz I don't trust it. Also the build quality of these trucks has gone down the shitter for every brand. Okay my rant is over

I also turned off the zone lighting. It was nice, somewhat annoying if you were just walking by, but nice when walking up without thinking.

I've considered buying an old school 350 and updating it to meet my needs and wants, but I want this to play out before I go extreme.

On the flip side, I've been very happy with my wife's Bronco. Had to get the trans tables reset shortly after buying it, but it's been a solid ride since.

When I first bought the truck I had three or 400 miles on it my wife drove down to Virginia to meet me at a BMW Motorcycle Rally. 3 days parked the truck started once when I went to move it I turned it off and it would not start again. Even with the Zone lighting turned off a notice when I walked by the truck in the garage it starts clicking and making weird noises. I put a DC in Probe on the battery terminals it when you turn the truck off it's got a pretty good amp load for 15 minutes or so. I really like the truck I think my 15 was built better. I generally do all my own repairs if I can. Crawling underneath and seeing how thin the frame is I can see why they rust out in 5 years up in the salt belt. A good friend of mine owns a garage and works on everything. He said it's just not one brand they have all cheapened up. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere on this form someone was having the same problem with his AC clutch being stuck on so I don't think it's a one-off issue.

Not sure how but I have ESP

Florida and California have the same ESP laws or rules. I live in California and bought mine from out of state at $100 over cost. The fix is simple. All you need to do is use a family or friends with an out of state address when you pay. It doesn’t matter where your car is registered. Go online pay by CC and enter said address and your GTG

California I totally expect dumb stuff like that. Florida surprises me. What a nonsensical anti capitalist regulation!! Let people use the free market!

Dropped my truck off at the dealer Monday morning. Glad to say the problem seems to have been resolved. Paperwork below.

TLDR - wound up being the front passenger door lock. 3 hours diagnostic time @ 250/hour plus 340 parts and labor. Previous dealers findings were NOT the cause and apparently inaccurate.

On Tuesday, after giving this a few days to be 100% sure I'm good, I'll pursue getting the diagnostic fee back from the dealer I went to last week.

Good luck on getting your money back.

Worst they can do is say no, so figure it's worth a shot. I didn't ask for the new dealer to document it at all let alone so well, so I was very pleased to see his summary.
