Today's update:
- installed RCI fuel tank skid (very easy, literally remove 4 bolts and reinstall)
- installed talon trans/cat skid (easy in theory, but the nuts are hard to get to - if you don't have a legit torque wrench or an air wrench, be prepared to put in some serious elbow grease to get the bolts off the chassis loose to put the brackets on that hold the skid)
- painted the rusted rear with the non corrosive black paint, looks a lot better. Couldn't get every spot but I did my best. I just did one coat as the coverage was good and it's just surface rust, two seemed unnecessary.
I recommend jack stands at the very least to work somewhat comfortably, i have a friend with a frame straightening lift that got high enough (although not a full height lift) to let us work. You can do it alone but an extra pair of hands helps, especially with the talon skid.
In other news, someone hit my passenger mirror in a parking lot (no cameras ofc), and they broke the attachment arm so it's $1k to replace the whole assembly since they broke that plastic piece. Luckily didn't damage the mirror or the light or the camera, so I'm just going to leave it be for now. Quite triggering leaving work on a Friday afternoon and finding that though, but silver lining it opens and closes and just the plastic is broken.
Scheduled on the 13th as of now for the rims/level/load kit/rear icon shocks/mud flaps!
