Dealer Rape of the Month

For me personally a big thing on the Tremor was getting some of the raptor features without the premium. Getting one without torsen or the raptor transfer case to me is just like get a platinum or a lariat instead.
I completely agree! The Torsen feature + perhaps the limited “Tremor features” like the camo interior, orange accents and Raptor like grill was the selling point. I also wanted the factory 1” lift and the awesome looking Tremor wheels. I don’t know about u guys but I can’t buy a $60k truck and then buy new wheels and tires right off the lot….. I just wish Ford had a factory 1.5” lift in the front so the rake wasn’t so much. But as is it’s great off road so I’m really happy. This came in the other day. Looking forward to bolting it up today. Absolutely amazing quality from Talons Garage. USA made! I emailed them for installation instructions.

Dealer said they were getting $5000 over invoice I said keep it. I wasn't paying over invoice. You should never pay over invoice. That like going to the store and milk is $4.99 gallon hell let me pay you $6.99.

I know it is unreal. I have never purchased a new vehicle over Invoice, and will never at MSRP or higher. Especially for a Ford since I get A/Z plan.

I found my tremor inbound to a dealer in Miami back in November last year. They agreed to x plan at the time. The truck was delivered at the end of December. At the time the heat shielding recall had just come out. They held my truck for a month telling me they were waiting for rivets to do the recall before I could pick it up. I found the rivets at a local dealer with a single phone call. Bought them, took them to my dealer, said I’d be back the next day for my truck.

While signing the papers, they tell me I’m getting a great deal. They had another person lined up to pay $10k over.

Come to find outC my truck wasn’t affected by the heat shield recall. They were stalling, trying to get me to back out of the purchase so they could seek to the person willing to pay $10k over. Thankfully I had signed paperwork for x plan and paid a deposit. Otherwise, I’m sure they would have sold it out from under me. Honestly surprised they didn’t do that anyways.

Sounds exactly like a Miami situation. That's why I flew to Iowa lmao. Glad you got it!

When I got to the point where I felt like my truck would never arrive I started to shop around. Found a 401a, near identical build at upland ford in CA, they had it marked up 20k. On top of that they added LoJack (worthless) some other vinyl protective bits and ceramic coat for the low cost of 92k. I waited two more months and got mine. The dealer I ordered from even gave me a check for 1500 for the rise in msrp, even though it had only gone up $300 in the time from order to delivery.

We are all going to remember these stealerships in 2-5 years... The one near me that marks everything up $5K-$20k told me they have to, to keep all their extra salespeople to have jobs.
The jeep dealer by me that does this, tries to justify it by putting seat/paint protection mandatory on all new vehicles. Poor greedy owners and bad management will ultimately lead them out of business. Google reviews will help everyone remember them too. Glad you find a good dealer !

Having purchased off a lot in SoCal, I consider myself lucky. While the dealer started at a $10k markup, I got it reduced to $2k and that was well covered by what they offered for my trade at nearly $12k over book and actually more than I paid for it four years prior. A week after I got it home, on a whim, I called the sales manager and said with all of the bad press about markups, any chance he'd throw in a hard tonneau cover and bed mat, fully expecting the "no chance" response. Instead, I got a call that afternoon saying they would call saying I had an appointment for the next week to get the cover installed. Now you might expect it to be as cheap as they could come up with, but no, it was a BakFlip X4. As a result, I drive past three other dealerships to give these guys my service business.

As noted above, we will all remember the dealerships that were customer focused when its time for the next new vehicle!

These dealers talked about on here are mind blowing. I ordered my Tremor (401A) in February, took delivery 09/16. MSRP was $63,845, bought it at $62,045. My dealer doesn't mark any orders up, not even Braptors or Raptor R allocations they have, and they push as many incentives/rebates/plans as possible.

I don't think anyones referring to ordered tremors, ones that are found in dealer stock. I ordered mine and didn't pay over msrp. It ended up being under.

True true. Definitely more prevalent. Thankfully my dealer doesn't do that either but the Ford dealer down the street I used to go to does, hence my switch of dealers. They're a family owned dealer, not a corporate franchised one or whatever you call them, so they try to stay level headed, and it shows with the business they get over the other dealer now. At least that's what the owner says.

For those of you who had custom order Tremors, how exactly did you get it for under MSRP? Were there rebates available at the time? Did you negotiate prior to taking delivery, or prior to ordering? My dealer just said they don't add any kind of mark-up to customer orders and that I'd just pay a stupid $699 dealer fee.

X-Plan through Mustang Club of America.

Many here ordered through Granger at 3% under dealer invoice. I worked up an order with them, but ended up finding one in an in-state dealer's inventory and paying MSRP because I'm impatient and needed to ensure delivery in '22 for business and tax purposes. I would have saved almost $10k had I gone with Granger.

Here's the Granger thread (I think they're still offering the deal but did not confirm):

Not PC, but an accurate description of what's going on with dealer pricing. Post the most ridiculous dealer markup in your local area. Winner gets a handshake.

Mine is from 2 days ago at Encinitas Ford near San Diego. Driving by, I saw a white Tremor like the one I have on order and thought that maybe they would sell it for a reasonable number. I could not have been more wrong. $20K markup on a Tremor and $40K markup on a Raptor. I hope these people burn in hell.

"Burn in Hell" I love it!
Said thing is, there are some who'll pay it or they'd just sit on the lot. Seller's market for sure and it does really suck.

I'm fortunate enough that I received Friends & Family pricing due to my son owning a Repair shop that mainly works on Ford Diesels. They're a small shop but actually buy more Ford parts than either of the actual dealers in town. So, he gets the opportunity for two of these deals a year. Saved almost the tax. With Tax my final price is about $1500 less than my window sticker.

Chalmer's Ford in Rio Rancho, NM. I bought my Tremor 402A like all my other Fords from them. They never sell with any add on overrides on anything including the Raptor. I ordered my Tremor in February this year on the D plan since my brother works at the local Lincoln Dealer. MSRP at the time was $70,900. The truck came in July 15th. New MSRP on the monroney was $73,300. Even though the truck had gone up $2400, I got it at the D Plan price at the time of order which was $63,508. I was even able to change the color to Antimatter Blue the week after I ordered it with no problem. This particular dealership rocks!! I shopped at the 2 dealerships in Albuquerque and neither would sell on the D Plan at all. Chalmer's will still order a truck for anyone straight up or on any Ford Plan.
