How is everyone protecting their bed?

My Linex Dealer is saying that there is 2 different linex products...1 that will fade to grey after time and an upgraded version that he's trying to push me towards. Anyone run into this?
Mine is getting Line-X as I type this, I went standard since it’ll live under a bed cover. The upgrade is UV protection as I understand it and purely cosmetic. The standard is still lifetime warranty but with UV it’ll fade over time (but I’m not sure how much time). So if you are using a bed cover I don’t see a reason to pay extra.

I have the upgraded version. It's not much more and my local sprayer guy doesnt even carry the baseline version.

Agreed. I have had other spray liners, but I always liked Line-X the best. I have gotten the UV protection on trucks I didn't put a cover on. My incoming Tremor will have a DB cover, so I too will opt for the non-UV Line-X offering.

I think it was only $50-100 more for the premium with UV over standard. I keep mine under a DB too but does come off occasionally so it was worth the peace of mind.

There were 4 offerings in my area:

"Our LINE-X® STANDARD black bed liner is $575.00*. LINE-X® PREMIUM couples the abrasion and impact protection you already trust with our STANDARD formula bedliner with the UV protection a bedliner needs to keep its’ luster. Like a sunscreen, LINE-X PREMIUM safeguards your truck bed from solar burnout and fading. Visible damage from intense UV rays can happen fast. Don’t leave your truck bed exposed, get LINE-X PREMIUM! This can be added to any LINE-X STANDARD bedliner for only $150.00*.

The best just got better. LINE-X has improved spray-on bedliner protection at the molecular level. LINE-X PROFESSIONAL uses a pure polyurea technology that combines strength and flexibility to create the toughest bedliner on the market. 300% tougher. LINE-X PLATINUM is the total bedliner package — toughness, durability, and UV stability. LINE-X PRO is $750.00* and LINE-X PLATINUM an additional 150.00*."

I'll have a tonneau cover and park in a garage so the UV coating wasn't important to me. I went in wanting the Professional, but my installer pushed me away from it and towards the Standard; said the Professional was overkill for a 1/2 ton and he really only uses it for contractors that really abuse their beds.

I wish my local line-X was that price, they quoted me $950 for the standard and an extra $100 for the premium.

Yikes! I'd be going with another brand/shop for that price. It's all about the prep and installation anyway; the products themselves should all be comparable.

Exactly. Not sure why they’re asking so much. My eyes popped when I saw that price.

Don't get me wrong, I like a spray in liner, but with an aluminum body truck a drop in is best and here is why:
A drop in protects better against damage, it provides cushion when things are dropped or tossed into the bed. A spray in does a better job of protecting from dirt and debris getting under the liner causing it to remove paint and leading to rust, but this is not an issue on the aluminum body. The drop in is $300 you can then get a bed mat for less than $100 and have even more protection

I agree on the aluminum vs steel bed aspects. If the drop ins didn’t look so cheap, I’d go for it. I already have a bed mat in place and it works. I prefer the spray-in.

Yep, I also got the premium regardless of how it will live. The cost benefit of the upgrade was an easy yes, on my end.

I haul arround iron fittings and valves in my rig, and I've never had an issue, in my original truck (Feb 2022 Tremor) with Line-X, having an issue with any sort of deformation with spray in liners. Your mileage may vary?

Get the premium, it's worth it.

Talked to two Line-x places near me. One said they won’t sell the premium (UV protection) because he says he feels like it fades unevenly. If you go with the standard how bad is the fade over time?
