Installed: SVT (Gen 1) Raptor Rear Shocks on Tremor

IMG_3138.jpeg

1000lbs of gravel in the bed. I have no doubt the stock shocks would of gone to the bump stops. I've had these on for quite some time now with some mileage. Couldn't be happier with the performance, unloaded/loaded, off and on road.

Anyone confirm the torque specs for the rear shocks? Just picked up a set from of all places Walmart ( free next day shipping ) for the same price as Summit. Now that they are here doing some homework and thought I would check what everyone in this thread tightened them to?

The 14th Gen forums seem to indicate "torque to 66 ft lb" but wanted to ask here just in case.

Thanks,

This is good timing as mine are supposed to arrive tomorrow via FedEx, unless they screw up my delivery again.

On road with no weight is a slight improvement in ride quality. Nothing to write home about. I’m about to head to coast so will let you know on beach. Off road I suspect is where they shine.
How was the beach trip?

Screw ups by FedEx are highly probable and should be expected. 🤬

Thanks,
Everything I’ve seen is 66ft lbs.

I installed the Raptor shocks Friday( picture posting to come when I clean the truck today), not to bad of install but I think it now makes me dislike my front 3" ROUGH COUNTRY struts that much more. Have you changed out your front struts? If so what did you go with? As of right now, I can't remark on a noticeable difference in ride quality outside of they look really cool.

This is the more complicated question.

I’ve been planning to use the 2.5” Fox Performance Elite, because I don’t want any lift, but during my over analysis I’ve noticed they get very lackluster reviews in the Tacoma world. I’m probably just giving too much ‘weight’ to an entirely different platform/application.

There was a blind review done of different coilovers and during the blind review the fox got the worst , so I don't know if it's just from the Tacoma world or not. I have always liked fox, especially their mountain bike suspension, have ran them in the past on other vehicles and they did good as long as you weren't hauling heavy weight of towing, but the new units are getting some horrible reviews for some reason.

I don’t have a tremor but I have the new fox 2.5 elites on my 24” black pkg f150 5.0 and these things lifted the front 2.5” so you will get some lift, my front fender is sitting at 40.5” on the stock 20’s. I purchased from accutune so they came with their free custom tune and I’m very happy with these they can ride just as soft as stock but with a more controlled feel over rough patches and potholes. I thought I liked the halo 2.0’s I had on my last truck but these things are way better I know they weren’t adjustable like the fox but still just a better overall feel and ride.

Nice to hear some positive feedback on the F150 application.
Going the AccuTune route seems safest.

FaKtor34, we probably watched the same video. The blindfolded guys getting into the Tacoma, driving with no preconceived biases, then trying to guess which shocks were which while literally wearing a shock collar. It was clever. And interesting. Virtually all of the well known, high end brands were rated very poorly. Including the Fox 2.5s.

Has anyone tried the King 2.5s ?

Anyone else have the Raptor shocks get delivered with the box and bag they come in soaked in oil??

Maybe one is leaking.
I really have to wonder about the seals on these old Raptor shocks that have been sitting on the shelf for years.
