What's new

J&l separator.

Does a 2023 benefit?
I don't see how it could hurt; to Rabidtastic's point, its cheap insurance. Although the 3.5 does have port injection now, I still like having the peace of mind that I'm keeping the intake as clean as possible. I change my oil every 5k miles, which is when I drain the catch can, and although I don't get a huge amount of oil, it's definitely more than what I would like getting into the intake.

Changed oil today, 5000 miles and seven months since last oil change. Photo shows how much has been captured during that time.

I have the can for the driver's side but have yet to figure out how to remove the OEM tube... It's not the same as the passenger side... do you have any ideas?

So essentially. This prevents air filter from clogging?

We need 2?

No sir, what you see in the can would have made its way to the intake valves bypassing the air filter.
Ok got it. Well aren't our engines now direct and port injected?

I have a 2012 Scion with over 260k. Changed pcv recently but have had zero issues.

I'm new to the world man so bear with me.

We do have both but from my understanding port injection is only used during idle. Was your scion DI or port?

There is one tube that has two connections. Disconnect both then plug in your new hoses.

Here is one someone put on their Tremor. Not sure if it was on this forum or the FB group. But I like that it's hidden closer to the firewall than the J&L. I guess the connections on the driver side are a little different. I don't know if I'll do this mod, but...figured I'd share.

Mishimoto Dual Catch Can

scion should be port. Haven’t had anything else since carbs (or weird germs shit/random domestic)

Port injection on ours runs at top end too iirc. German tuneups are back on the menu lol

No, I'm saying the descriptions I see say passenger side, but then all the pictures show them on the driver side so is there a driver and passenger mount option?
Reason I thought driver would be better is it mounts closer to the firewall in the pics and the dipstick and fill tube are all on driver side, keeps things symmetrical for my OCD lol
Often times the photo in the description is a stock photo and is not the exact car/truck the part goes to. Maybe thats what it is.

This was immediately following a fresh oil change and a 900 mile road trip of 99% highway driving. Was surprised as it appears to collect a higher quantity and what appears to be raw oil than the one on my 2023 Bronco with the 2.3L 4cylinder turbo. The bronco collects less volume and an off color milky-brown-clear fluid.

And this is a 5.0 Tremor.

Whether it goes into the intake or into this cup, doesn't the oil have to be topped off in time? Seems like guys are collecting a good amount of oil with these things.

I have read the 5.0 historicaly collects more than the EB engines.
