What's new

Jan 10th Build Week Thread

I just got off with Ford assistance and they said I am on Chip hold... so don't know what Robert is talking about. I assume that means you don't show chip hold anymore? But it's a guess
I think Robert is just an asshole. He didn’t even try to tell me anything, just sent a link to the tracking website.
Probably tired of people like me blowing up his chat window everyday.
Maybe I’m the asshole??

Heaven forbid he does his job and helps customers with information on their order.

Nobody likes Robert anyway... someone must have pissed in his Cheerios this morning.

Confirmed my truck is on a train. No chip hold for me. Estimated arrival is around Father’s Day. Must be a “slow train comin” for all you Bob Dylan fans but imagine that for a Father’s Day gift.

I got good new this morning. After 114 days "In Production" I got the Built email and status show Built and awaiting shipping on tracker! Hopefully it arrives by this estimated time. It missed the ETA of May 9th lol

114 days is a long time to sit in a field in Michigan. Glad you get it soon, exciting! Wish they showed the actual model we ordered in the email.

AWESOME!

I'm at 119 days and counting. That also equates to just under 33% of they year 2022....

I don't understand this. How can Ford just have your truck in production, assuming waiting on chips(?), for 119 days but yet they are still building and delivering other trucks? It's not like your truck needs some unique chip or part.

If it's a 402a i could see it. Seems like 400 and 401a's fly off the production line.

It is crazy... there doesn't seem to be any explanation that anyone can give. In fact, it seems that when you contact Ford they don't even want to attempt to give an explanation. They just say, "Congrats on choosing the F-150! You show you are in PRODUCTION! YAY!"

It's infuriating... and I'm the baby in this group at 113 days of in Production. Blend was Jan 17th.

I mean, mine is a 402A and it's supposed to be built next week. There are others that have been built too in those 119 days, Lariat, KR, Platinums. I mean there has to be a good reason but I just don't konw what it is.

Congratulations! I'm jealous! And I hope you get yours quicker than June 2-8th... Seems crazy it would take that long.

Seems like we have roughly 1 a week getting the lucky email?

I don't get it either. Below is about the best theory I've read on the whole situation. Internal management fighting of part (chip) allocation. Possibly the guy in charge of getting the trucks out of the parking lot doesn't have much pull.

I'm in construction and this reminds be of the closeout process on a build. Once a job gets to 99% done, the hardest part is the last 1%.

"With not enough resources going around (chips, parts etc.) I think it comes down to mid level management prioritization. Do we clear the backlog of old builds? Do we send most chips to the assembly line? I’d suspect this leads to some internal strife, with various managers fighting for said scarce resources.
The end result being a “muddle through” performance with some progress on old builds.
Demand is high, prices higher, who cares about a few disgruntled customers?"

I just noticed that you ordered roughly 1 month after I did... and you haven't even started production yet. I think you had to wait forever just to get a VIN if I remember right?

Seems like it's so random on how these order's turn out.

If this is the way Ford wants to go, more custom orders and less dealer inventory on lots... they are going to have to figure their Sh!t out. Right now as it stands I have zero desire to custom order another Ford.

Exactly what I was thinking. There are a few Platinums (even a 702a) that were built last week and have already shipped. Makes no sense.

I'm a MEP Commissioning Engineer so I'm a big part of that last 1% on most large Commercial Projects :ROFLMAO:.

That (what you quoted) is not a great explanation but is better than any other theories so far I guess. Obviously this is all unprecedented and also out of our control but it would be nice for Ford to provide a bit more clarity.

Oh man - I've been on the wrong end of the stick during commissioning for government projects. Not fun rounding up a bunch of grown ass babies to make them do what they are supposed to do but that's my life as a GC PM.

haha. It's like herding cats. I don't envy you GC's. First in, last out, 6 days a week. And have to be able to deal with the Owner, the guy pushing a broom, and everyone in between.

I have had no update on eta still may 3 and my dealer has received 3 402a in the last week all had same build week 1/10 more options and one had the last digit of vin one away…..makes zero sense and IMO ford does not care cause you cancel the order someone will buy it and why not ship the newest ordered ones cause they have a higher price tag

Same my dealer had 2 of them come in that were built after mine

This stuff kills me! What the $#%&!!

And now my wife has officially banned me from Facebook until my order arrives…
