What's new

Jan 10th Build Week Thread

Was thinking the same, til every dealer within a 100 mile radius say pound sand when I ask for markup to be removed. I have renewed hope, dealer contacted me this morning and did delivery 6/8-14. Not holding my breath

Ok… we lost @Fozzy to buying a truck off the lot… I just wonder if anyone else is thinking the same thing? I’m in that mindset today.

But with my luck I would get the “truck built” email the morning after I buy something new @ MSRP+.

About a month ago I bought a 2013 F150 to use this summer… however it just dumped a large juicy turd 💩 and has a major engine problem now. I loathe that I’m in this situation owning a old used truck that I paid too much for (in this market) and about to spend $2-3k on engine repairs.

Not sure what to do honestly. I keep having these days where I’m pissed off at the world 😂

Am I crazy for thinking about bailing after waiting this long?
I've thought about it as well but I'd end up paying more than I am now which is not something I want to do. I'm seeing tremors in my area with less options than I've got listed at $15k more than my deal.

Is this date a change from a previously pushed up date?

That’s my thought too. I’m getting my truck exactly how I want it for $10,000 under MSRP. As long as my Tacoma keeps running (and of course it will) I can wait for the Tremor.

Is the dealer or ford going to do anything about the rust?

Well based upon your lead time I am looking at August. A littler later than I wanted but still gives some time for yak fishing trips.

I’m putting this here since I was a Jan 13th person.
I took my Tremor to my local dealer to have the oil changed at 5000 miles, passenger front door adjusted, and to find out why “Backup assist breaking is off” message come on every time I go into reverse.

It turns out my truck was damaged during shipping and Granger sent it out to be repaired. Afterword, they did a 360 camera alignment and after a couple of attempts got the “Backup braking off” message to disappear.

My local dealership couldn’t adjust the door properly nor could they get the message to go away. They told me I need to take the truck to a dealership that has a body shop that has the necessary tools to fix the door so that the 360 camera will align.

So, for those of you taking delivery, try and get the dealership to disclose if there was damage during shipping so you can verify the repairs were done properly.

I only hope the door hinge is screwed up and the the hinge on the truck isn’t.

Sad day😩

EDIT: Chip called me immediately and said the damage was a scratch and would try to send me pictures tomorrow- and I believe him. What to do about the backup issue has got me puzzled. If I can show my local dealer that the damage to the door is not the cause, then I think I’ll try and see if I can get the Ford expert involved.

EDIT to the EDIT: Got the pictures and it was just a scratch. I did find out the repair place removed the door so now I can’t say if the alignment was an original ford issue or not. Chip told me to get it fixed and Granger would cover my costs (if any). The door must just barely be out of spec but now that I know what to look for on the display, I can see the passenger white line in a parking spot is not parallel. The 360 deg camera system must be super sensitive cause the door shutting issue isn’t that bad. Dealer in Phoenix with a body shop won’t call me back😩. Gotta find a dealer in PHX that will take the job.

I would have refused the truck, no way I am spending $70k on a truck to have out damaged prior to transfer. Were they (Grainger) upfront abbot the damage prior to the sale?

Might want to reach out to @zach@granger I’m sure he can help make this right, though it sounds like it’s more of a Ford Corporate issue since they delivered it.

Please PM me and I'll be happy to do some research. There are occasions where repairs are made before they reach us. They have a body shop at the factory. I'm happy to look into this and check our records as well.

Keep us updated... I would be very interested to hear if you end up picking the 2021 up. Just been a rough week with my older 2013 F150 and I'm feeling like I don't want my summer to suffer because I have issues with this truck.

Note the edit in my original post. I’m cheap so mine didn’t cost $70k (more like $50k)🤪

Chip is on it. All is good.
