I talked to S3M today about the Tremor and how a 2.5" spacer brings it pretty close to level with no reported ride or handling problems. Now, most with this set up probably have not been off roading and pushing the limits. Kinda like "No Rub" tire guys that go to the mall and church. So in severe use the spacer may limit suspension performance vs a performance coilover. I want to improve the truck as well as get it looking good by being level and clear 35's completely not just on the street. Here are the options they gave me.
1- Use the 2.5" spacer kits and be happy with the looks and add zero performance gains. They did not have any real world experience with the Tremor or any CV angle numbers. They did say 3" was to much for a regular F-150's CV's and hurts the ride quality and performance. From what forum members are reporting they have had zero issues with the 2.5" kits. With ride and alignment specs. Some say no rub with 35's
2- No one makes a Tremor kit and probably won't. Any lift you install will equal a regular F-150 ride height. So a 4" BDS kit will be the same end result on a Tremor as a regular F-150. Any performance coilover will only give you the regular F-150 height as well. This is also true for the Superduty Tremor and the Ranger Tremor. So if using a Perfromance coilover for the lift. To make it level we would need to install the regular F-150 rear block and loose the stock lift. Or be happy with the rake. Trimming and proper wheel combo you can fit 35's.
3- Install a regular quality lift kit like a BDS with the FOX coilovers. 4" with proper wheel combo will clear 35's. With trimming the crash bars and front bumper you can clear crazy off set wheels like -44's and 35" tires for mall use. This mod is not reversible and you actually cut the frame. You can't use the stock wheels. It requires a specific backspacing for 18" and 20" wheels to clear the knuckles. And of course you only gain ground clearance from the increased tire size as the kit just lowered everything down. CV angles are the best in the business. Their kits ride great and look good.
3- My original question about stacking a spacer and performance coilover. Here is their advice. Pick what ever performance coilover you want and use it for most of the lift. This will help limit the size of the spacer. Coilover's like the KING's may not work as the resi hose goes out the top of the shock and may interfere with the spacer. The smaller the spacer the better. It may need to be custom made if I want it dead level. Adding any performance coilover will stiffen the ride on road. No matter what brand as they are valved for bigger bumps and higher speeds. Most need to be rebuilt every 30-60K miles if used as intended.
This is just one shops idea's on the F-150 Tremor. Like Yeti has said all along, not much real info. S3M was very helpful and have a ton of videos on all the suspension set ups. I think I will hold off buying ICON's or any lift until I actually have the truck and can measure it. Look at the angles of the suspension and CV's. They did mention many brands are out of stock and back logged as per CV-19 norm.
