Leveling Kit

So, I had an interesting conversation today with an off-road/repair shop. They do A LOT of the lift kits and stuff for the dealerships around. They've lifted/leveled over 20 tremors and lift over 30 trucks a month.

They won't install levels like the AS (that mount on top of the strut assembly) on the Tremors because it can cause the electronic hub to throw an error due to the shaft being more than 16° in 4x4.

Long story short, they have meticulously gone over comparing part numbers for Tremors and various F-150's. They have determined, in conjunction with my local dealership, that the lift of the Tremor comes from the spring. Because if this they will only install things like coilovers and pro comp kits that add preload to level.

In addition, they have indicated that all of the kits that work for the F150s will work for the tremor, they just provide 1/2" - 3/4" less of lift; that they have tested/installed many and it holds true.

Any thoughts on this or counter arguments that show otherwise?
B.S. The Pro comp uses a puck and pre load spacer, a very small pre load spacer. This thread is full of AS, Pro Comp, RC kits and not one person has talked about a code being thrown. The only way the drive hub angle would not change is leave it stock or do a diff drop. You could stick a brick under the strut and the drive hubs can't tell. Changing the angle is changing the angle no matter how you get there. The difference between a coil over vs a puck is all about the full use of shock travel and hopefully a better tuned spring and valve pack. Ask them for all the part number comparisons. That would be good info to post up.

This was my thinking, it was an early model 2021 so idk if maybe it was a weird one off or what...They only mentioned it happening the one time, but said it was enough to not do it again for dealerships. I was just posting it here to see. They are a VERY reputable shop and service like 20+ dealerships in the surrounding area.

I will reach out and see if I can get those numbers though. They were very adamant that everything was entirely the same in the suspension, so I'm eager to see their research findings. They are not the only off road shop that has said this to me either...

Yeah def not the case. Any issues would be caused by height and the height would be the same whether achieved by a spacer or by a coilover same in regards to CV angle mentioned earlier in this thread. CV angle is effected by height and height alone so if your cv angle is too extreme its because of the height not because of the spacer (unless the spacer is too tall)

Too shed some light on the Bilstein/eibach talks. The problem with eibach is that they have decided to use their previous generation products on the new generation so those measurements you are referring to are not the same on the new gen, tremor or not. It looks like they have updated some of the info on their website to reflect that.

Now the eibach or bilstein struts are designed to be used in conjunction with your factory spring and they give you added height by compressing the factory spring, the downside of doing it this way is at the max height setting it will be a firm ride and over bumps can be a bit jarring, just nature of the beast riding around on a pre-compressed spring. So @MOHunter what that shop told you was correct, it would have solved your height issue but you may not have been as happy with the ride. Now because of this eibach designed a spring to do all of the lifting, 2.7" at the lowest setting (on 15-20) looks like they now claim 3" on the new generation. The reason they are not adjustable lower is because the height adjustment portion is really one of the features designed to be used with the factory springs and just happens to be there when being used with the springs. Hopefully that make sense.

At this point it seems like the eibach 2.0 coilovers are the best choice for the tremor. And im not even sure we will see a tremor specific option released, but we can hope.

That’s a very good explanation and breakdown. I do like how the springs ride and I definitely didn’t want to degrade the ride so I’m glad I didn’t have them switch it and use the factory springs. I guess the reality is, there’s just nothing available right now to get it setup exactly how I want it.
 
Haven't seen a ton of Auto Spring (AS) 2.3 level kit pics so thought I'd share a few of mine. After install, truck has exactly 1" of rake which is about perfect for my use case. So far truck drives and rides the same including all driver assist tech. Love this truck!

For those interested in the Eibach lift springs and shocks, but are concerned about being left with no rake:

I called and spoke with RAS about their SD and HD kits. According to the man I spoke with, the RAS HD will raise your back end by 0.5-1.5”, depending on how you set the tension. This “sounds” like it MAY be a solution to the problem (my problem anyways) with the lift springs. That being said, he also told me it would not hurt the quality of my ride and only improve it. How it feels in the drivers seat is subjective, but one thing I’m absolutely certain of is that it will feel different. I’ve ordered the RAS HD and I’ll report back on my thoughts after I get a chance to try it out.

Tremor Fitment: these coilovers will technically bolt up to a 2021-2022 F150 Tremor, however, you will not gain any ride height, and we don't recommend using these coilovers on a Tremor.

I don't have any evidence otherwise, but their Q&A section has been wrong throughout this whole thread so I'd take it with a grain of salt lol.
 
Auto Spring 2.5" before and after. Just shy of 2.75" to be exact. 1.35" of rake after

man, i'm glad i chose the 2.5" AutoSpring. i toyed with the idea of going with their 2" because i wanted a little bit of a rake for when i tow something. but 1.35" of rake is going to be perfect. i'm getting mine installed on thursday morning.
 
I have a little squeak coming from the front right when I go over a speed bump now after hitting the off-road a little hard last week in GA with the AS2.5 pucks on.

Any ideas what it could be?

Thinking about just letting it be until I change to coilovers in a few months hopefully.

Could be dirt or dust on the spacer. Try rinsing really good in there and making sure things are still tight.
 
How do you screw up the install that bad? They only go on one way right?
you know the installer nicked that boot, and then hid it by moving the nick around to the back side of that boot. a short while of using it later, and boom, shredded boot. now the installer can say, "i don't know what you're talking about, it was all good when you left here." good thing for that original poster of that photo, i think it was said the dealer had installed the leveling kit, so he should be covered by warranty.

You can also let the entire assembly fall down and out. Pulling the CV apart and stretching the boot. This is the worst case, because if they don't get the CV put back together right it will be next to go. I see more and more people doing the lower control arm method just to eliminate the chance of pulling the CV apart.
