What's new

No tune available for the ‘23 3.5 Ecoboost?

Have you done anything else to your truck? I've got a '23 3.5 (obviously) in Avalanche as well. But I have a feeling we are far from twins. :ROFLMAO:

And I am trying to decide just how much to do to this truck in the event that Ford ever decides to build my Raptor.
Just a few things. 2" Ready Lift leveling kit, Undercover Armor Flex bed cover, grill lights, fender lights and front floods.

Looking good! What lights did you use for the lower bumper? I've been considering some lights for the front since I live way out in the country.

I've done the RC M1 lift in the front, 17" KMC wheels, 315/70 BFGs (Raptor spec), and the HD DB cover. I also did a Whipple intake and a CVF Titan intercooler...

Thanks. I may have to check those out.

My UPS shipment for the tuner still looks like a mess. It's possible the shipment may show up today. If so, I hope to find time to try it tonight. I'll keep you posted.

The tuner did come in this afternoon. I hope to have some time later tonight to try it out.

**UPDATE**

Never mind. I didn’t realize the tuner was sent out blank. You have to request and download a tune from Livernois onto the blank tuner, and that will only work on a Windows PC.

All of my personal and work devices are Apple. I’ll check with some of my friends, but I don’t immediately know anyone that isn’t running all Apple devices. Looks like I may just end up returning it unless I find an easy resolution.

Please dont do that….find a windows machine.
I think you only need it for sharing the initial information with Livernois and then uploading the tunes to the tuner

I’m dying to know the answer.

Me too! 🤣

I’m trying to find a PC to use, and I’m sure I will actually find one. My previous post was made partly out of frustration.

It will likely be next week, but I’ll update everyone when I get to that point.

If one of your Apple PCs is using an Intel CPU, you could setup a Windows VM and pass the tuner USB connection through to it. It's relatively straight forward.

Costco member? They’ll take an opened laptop as a return. No questions asked - they’ll just want to know if it was broken or not.

The date on the ECU does make more sense, thus why certain '23s can be tuned and certain '22s cannot. More now than ever the date on the ECU is probably correlated to the date the truck is built. But as you said, who really knows exactly?

I've looked at the JB4 several times and just cannot bring myself to do it. It's closer to a 40-50hp increase (rather than double that - at a minimum), and it doesn't tune the transmission. As much as I want to add a tune, I just can't bring myself to spend the same amount of money for a lesser return. If the Livernois tune won't go on my truck, I may just wait until they can tune all '23s.
Any update? Gotta be some windows computer friends out there.

Please don't do this. While not illegal, it's wasteful and drives prices up.

Buy a cheap windows laptop for things like this, or Forscan changes. You spent ~70k on a truck, you can afford a cheap laptop.

Cheap windows laptops are the reason many people don’t own windows laptops.

However, I do understand your position here. If anyone is on the fence ethically, don’t let me sway you.

Side note: FWIW, Costco operates on a very narrow retail profit margin generating its meaningful revenue through membership fees. They have a generous return policy because that is what works for them and their shareholders. Beyond that, who knows - a good argument could be made that creating a cheaper refurb of an already cheap laptop creates more options for those not fortunate enough to be able to afford a $70k truck.

Parallels Desktop

I use this on my MacBook. I've been using this program for years. It's awesome and not very expensive at all. It's $100-$150/year depending on what you want and then you have to buy whatever version of Windows you want. I used it for ForScan and Syn3 Updater on my previous truck and also use it for Word and Excel sometimes at work. The only thing is it drains the battery pretty quickly (I mean you are running two operating systems at the same time) and takes up over 100GB of space (not sure what size hard drive you have). But yeah, I love this program. I don't even use it a whole lot but it has come in handy at times for sure.

Not sure why the link wants to take you to the Dutch version of the site but just change the language to English haha.

Keeping this post up top for an update. ?

It‘s been another 2 weeks…any update V8-Goat?

Forgot to come back here, SCT has support for 2023*s now. Just depends on your strategy. I'm still waiting for mine to be able to be read by the X4. Other strategies have support now. I'll report back but right now I'm a Jan 2023 build 5.0, which isn't working. Fingers crossed for another week or two. 5 Star tuning has tunes that will work on 2023 assuming there are no gotchas with the strategy.

It's not official, but they can support a good many of 2023s, and seem to be willing to continue to add more.
