No tune available for the ‘23 3.5 Ecoboost?

I have a '23 ecoboost that I took delivery of in 12/22. I see that 5* has their x4 tuner w/ 3 tunes on sale for 699. I am gonna pull the trigger and cross my fingers my strategy code is compatible. To those who have this tune, did it smooth out the transmission shifts like it did on previous f150s?

The date on the ECU does make more sense, thus why certain '23s can be tuned and certain '22s cannot. More now than ever the date on the ECU is probably correlated to the date the truck is built. But as you said, who really knows exactly?

I've looked at the JB4 several times and just cannot bring myself to do it. It's closer to a 40-50hp increase (rather than double that - at a minimum), and it doesn't tune the transmission. As much as I want to add a tune, I just can't bring myself to spend the same amount of money for a lesser return. If the Livernois tune won't go on my truck, I may just wait until they can tune all '23s.
From what Livernois emailed me you will be waiting forever since they told me they will never be able to remotely tune our trucks....Here is the email:

“We can do them right now but it involves bringing it here they will never be able to be tune remote. It requires a new ecm that is unlocked for $1100 then we have to reprogram all the modules. Sorry to inform you of this but 2023 is the only way to do these trucks.”

Where in PA are you? If you're close to State College I'm happy to use my X4 to try to read your strategy. Otherwise, I wouldn't order anything without knowing for sure they're able to tune it.

I appreciate it however I'm in upper bucks, about 4 hours away. I am trying to get someone on the phone regarding return policy before ordering. If I don't make any moves, maybe I'll take you up on that offer when I come out to Raystown lake next year!

Sounds good. If you can't get through, hit them on [email protected] or you can join the Community page. I work with 5 star tuning and have had them tune 8 of my vehicles, so help them out with their Facebook group.

I bought my tuner from 5 Star after they said that 12/22 and older 3.5s could be tuned. My truck has a December '22 build date but the tuner could not download the strategy. I live near SCT and took my truck to them along with my tuner. They couldn't download it either. 5 Star refunded my money without any questions. They were very good to deal with.

You are only a short 8 hour jaunt from Livernois. They can take your ECU out, replace it and then tune it.....No way for me.

Well I emailed the sales team and the response I received was just a blanket 'we do not support 2023 at this time'. Nothing about build dates or anything else. They really should make it clearer on their website. It says 21-23 (build date 12/22 or older). This conflicts with what the sales rep told me in the email. Oh well, I guess I'll just wait.

Jb4 is only option.

What has Ford changed so drastically that the tuner companies can't get get tunes done? Why would Ford feel the need to change code up so much from a '22 to a '23. Jokers can't get their room of nerds to figure out heated steering wheels without 3rd party chips, but will waste money screwing with code in the ECMs. And it seems like things are glitchier than ever by the posts I read daily on forums and FB.

They can figure it out, they just don't want to. They would rather give you a fake $50 credit instead of finding a new supply, and sadly most customers will take that plate of shit, eat it, and ask for seconds. As far as making it more difficult for tuning, it's all about control, they don't want you to have it. Cars in general aren't more complicated, wheels, engine, steering etc. But the electronics certainly are, that's proprietary information which they want to guard as much as they can. These cars now collect data on themselves and also on their users, car manufacturers consider all of that their property.

And nobody seems to care.

I'm not sure it was Ford entirely, but more Bosch who makes the PCM for them. I believe the bootloader changed and that's why HPT and SCT haven't broken in yet. They changed the attack vector and/or patched it. Ford may not really be involved because they're just using Bosch software to read/write from their PCM.

No matter what us 23’ owners have gotten it with no lube. I’m an hour away from MPT and had them dyno tune my 19’. This waiting game is KILLING me 😔
