I have had the mirrors folded and have no concerns with the new mounts in the folded position. The puddle lights don’t function in the folded position that I could tell. They unfold prior to fading on.

Mine come on when the truck is locked (I have the mirrors fold when I lock it) and I walk up to it, even when they're folded.

You are correct. They do function in the folded position. I think I was thinking about when they are folding, the light goes off and then comes back on once done folding.
