What's new

Raptor Steering Wheel

Got my steering wheel from Barry. It’s great. Waiting to take the truck in for some transmission service (clunk and rough shifts). This is my second time in, my dealer said if I bring it in enough they will swap a new transmission. Im considering a new transmission just in case this one has something that may become an issue down the road when out of warranty. I will ask the dealer how much for a steering wheel install. I can do it myself but I just want to ask them for a price. I know warranty should not be an issue since it’s an F150 part but I will ask them just in case. Super easy install based upon other videos out there should not take more than 30min.

If you have any questions during the install feel free to ask me.

Just received my steering wheel from Barry yesterday. It was well packed for shipping protection. If I have time, may try to install today. I attached a pic of my wiring harness that seems to be wired for the paddles shifters to work. I have a 2021 401a package. I'll post again once installed.

Completed the install yesterday. Feels a lot better and gives a truck a more premium feel. Tremor steering wheel wasn't bad at all. This one just feels a little more solid and premium. I do use manual mode at times, so I prefer the paddle shifters over the + - buttons on the gear selector. That Code Orange stripe doesn't really bother me, and I feel doesn't really clash too much with the Tremer interior. Just looks like a red racing center stripe on the steering wheel.

I used my buttons and trim from the Tremor and installed onto the Raptor steering wheel. I used the Raptor steering wheel harness due to the paddle shifters. Everything works as intended. I did disconnect my battery but I have to say, working around an airbag can make you a little nervous 😅. It was easy to install. That big bolt that holds the steering wheel is a T50 and you need a T20 for the buttons and trim piece. I originally installed and paddle shifters weren't working due to me not using the Raptor wiring harness. Thanks @ BarryT82 for all the help. Appreciate it.

You’re welcome sir. I sold one to another gentleman that is working on changing the color of the stripe using vinyl or leather paint.

I have seen that done before. Not sure how long the paint holds up long term though

If you guys don’t know that stripe is independent of the wheel and can be removed and a new one “sewn” onto the wheel. If you can find whoever makes the replacement stripes, just order one in the orange with orange thread. If OCD.

I mean, it’s a bit more complicated than that. I personally don’t have the skill to undo the stitching and then stitch it back together. You don’t even have to find out who makes the stripe, any auto upholstery shop could cut their own stripe and do the job, just depends on how much it is worth it someone to have a different color. I have seen people have this done and it’s been up to half the cost of the wheel itself.

BuiltRight sold the stripe for previous generations.

The Code Orange / Red Stripe doesn't bother me, but this may be an option for some. On my stock Tremor Wheel I added a Matte Orange stripe from sandyeggo designs. Someone else had brought this up on another thread. Color is pretty close to the Tremor Orange / Gold whatever. You can remove that vinyl tape thing so I may just try and add off my Tremor steering wheel. Figure color is closer and probably adds protection. Seems like that leather stripe may wear down after a while.
