Roadmaster Active Suspension (RAS)

Ok gents, I’m about to pull the trigger on a HD set for my 2023 as they are having a sale this weekend. Quick question.. Anyone have any luck making sure you get the Tremor specific bump stop kit when ordering?
Let us know how the bump stop adapters work out....

I hope Bannerman is right and they are universal

I called RAS and they sent me replacement bump stop adapters immediately. The guy i talked to then mentioned that they were switching them all over to the Tremor style adaptor since that works with other F150s as well.

But if you call and order I'm sure they'll make sure you get the right one.

I don’t get it, isn’t adding a bump stop spacer limiting suspension travel off road?

The box comes with 2 sets of bolts (short and long) and say you have to pick the correct ones for the Tremor. How are you supposed to know if the Tremor needs the short or long ones?

RAS Installed. I am extremely frustrated with the product. After watching the official install video several times, I spent hours jacking the truck properly, getting the right tools at Home Depot, following the instructions provided meticulously and equalizing both sides with a scorching heat in the garage (100F outside).

I drove over a dip to test the system. It makes a loud noise which you can hear in the attached video.
Inspecting afterward, everything is in place. See attached photos of the system installed. However I noticed the metal part from the light level sensor is scratched (see circled in red) so I wondering if the bolt is not hitting against it. It seems that the RAS bolt is too long, and hits the metal fin that’s below the light level sensor. This is despite using the 2nd hole, as described in the manual, specifically to allow the RAS to clear this.

I was supposed to leave for a roadtrip but now stranded home. Not sure what to do. Any help is appreciated. I will call them but I guess they are not available on the weekend.

I looked from under and the fin is completely scratched. I am now fairly certain this is the issue. It’s also scratched from the top, because the force during compression event is so great it hits the thin, bend it, then hit it again from the top on the way back and bend it back. Thus why you can hear the sound more than once in the video.

This is despite using the 2nd hole per the instruction. Clearly, they either use a too long bolt on mine, or the 2nd hole doesn’t work on all tremors.

My light leveler is now shaking. Probably trashed.

It looks like if I just switch both RAS, it could solve it. Indeed the lock nut from the culprit bolt is point inward right now (towards frame) for both RAS. If I switch the RAS (put the Rear driver one on the Left driver), those nuts with the bolts extending past the nuts will now point outward, towards the wheel, and thus, the bolt won’t hit the metal fin from light sensor anymore.

I am surprised because in the manual, there is no mention of a right hand or left hand specific RAS.

To conclude: if you install at the 2nd hole you have a 50% chance of hitting the light sensor metal fin (if your RAS is such that the culprit bolt points inward towards the frame). Either pay attention to that, and switch the RAS so bolts points outward (nowhere to be seen in the manual), or use the 3rd hole. I now have to redo everything from scratch.

Tons of people have broken their fins as well, despite using the second hole. My idea of swiping the RAS seems like it worked for others.
Unbelievable that this is issues is known with messages back from 2021, yet it wasn’t addressed by RAS in the instructions.

Use the 3rd bolt hole and make sure the threads of the bolts are pointing out away from the height sensors. It took some trial and error to figure that out for me originally.

Mine actually broke my sensor arm

I don't have light level sensor on my 23 Tremor.
But common logic would be to flip the bolt around instead of completely swapping left/right RAS assemblies (they're identical). I used the 3rd hole. Works great. Best investment I've made in the truck. So much so, friends and family started buying RAS for their trucks too.

The bump stop was the hardest to figure out. Instructions weren't very clear, but I eventually got it. I just used the bolts that were similar in size to factory bolts. Insert the new bolt down from the top of the spacer (the pocket will keep the hex bolt from spinning, and use the factory bolt to secure the spacer to the frame in the original bump stop bolt hole. Then mount your bump stop to the spacer just as you would normally with the nut to secure it to the spacer.

Hello.
New here to the forum. If I want to install the RAS Road Active Suspension HD version to the back. I know it will lift 2 inch from the videos I have seen. could be slightly less with adjustment to it.
I want it due to towing a Travel Trailer. Which would be worse case 6500 lbs. I also have an Equalizer Weight Distribution Hitch.
My question is how much of a level lift kit should I do upfront to make it even? Without compromising ride quality.

Rough Country is here locally. They have a 2.5” one. In the option of Lifted N3 Or M1 Monotube. Which I’m not familiar with difference.
Or do I need to do something higher to make it even since back will be higher than stock.

I’m new to having a truck.

Thank you

I just got a 2023 F150 Tremor 402A

I went with SD, and even on the lower setting (tension), considering this, it takes easily north of 1k lb in bed to sag anything below level. Rear of truck was +3/4" with RAS add.

I had an issue with my RAS hitting the level sensors as well even with on road driving. The guys at RAS said to mount the front bracket on the 2nd hole (i did the first hole) and this would allow it to clear.
Using second hole on the ras still bent the ride height auto leveling bracket with no load in bed on my 24 pb f150 King ranch this is a disaster why. On the second hole is it hitting the drivers side ride height bracket second fin dobi need to chop the bolts off
