Sunroof Drama

YouTube video (I can’t find now). Shows leak patch (vs repair) is to seal rivets with RTV and place butyl rubber over magnetic headliner holders. Specific symptom cited is water dripping through speakers.
I am guessing you mean this video. Jump ahead to 2:55.

Having the same issue. To your knowledge, did they seal around all the riveted areas? How long did the replacement take?
I'm not entirely sure if they did or not. It wasn't mentioned if they did. This final repair was 15 days from drop off. Actually had to go back yet again because the sunroof shade was left out of the track on the passenger side and they had to drop the headliner again to fasten it correctly.

Geeze! That's a long wait.

Thanks for posting this. Will be helpful when I talk to my service advisor.

Video I can’t find is an older Ford Tech. He emphasizes he is patching, not fixing the problem several times. And he has no returns with his method. Only interior removal work is pulling down the headliner at magnets, 21+ IIRC.

I learned in the 4runner forum years back watch your roof sealant! Silcone based will rust your roof! It stays active and oxidizes, eventually rusting and eating through the roof. I would need to hunt but dudes roofs rotted from silicone on the roof racks

Well finally had evidence that this has occurred, rained hard yesterday while driving and it dripped- not a ton luckily. Seat is a bit discolored which is why I guessed it happened, plus some light crust on the speaker grille. Going to call dealer

And I guess its time to seal the failure points as shown in the video below, but I found a guy who did it with clear stuff and used A LOT less. This video is a very liberal application

Hmmm, I wonder if this letter will go out to all owners of F150’s with the Panoramic roof.
I've been wondering the same. My track was replaced but now I have a rattle, seemingly from the loose fit against the seal(s).

Looking at the other F150 forum I saw 2024 guys commenting on the letter and in app notification. I wonder if it is a specific 2024 thing.

I have a 2025 Tremor with Panoramic Roof and Ive received nothing in the mail or the app. I do however take care of my sunroofs and use Krytox on the seals. I plan on keeping up the regimen of doing this several times a year for this particular sunroof. I don't use carwashes either and only wash my vehicles by hand.

2nd visit with this. 1st time they couldn’t replicate the issue. Mother Nature assisted today. Headliner is soaked and it’s dripping from the speaker into the passenger seat.
Sunroof Leak
I have the same Truck, mine was doing the same thing. They replaced the glass in it. No leak now !!
