Thoughts on Vehicle LED Lighting — Tremor Accent

Is the plastic behind them not solid then, it's just like a upper and lower piece with the orange in the middle?
Correct.

Interesting...thanks for starting this. I just bought the same light and will experiment with it...how did you wire it up?
I wired it to an aux switch.

I will say, soldering wired to the light is a pain. I don’t really have the appropriate soldering iron tip. So it took me a while to get a good connection and I’m still skeptical that the joints will hold.

I de soldered the barrel plug that comes on it and soldered on a typical deutsch connector that is waterproof. I siliconed around the solder points and then hearshrunk around the end of the strip to waterproof as best I could.

Ok cool, hopefully I have what I need, if not guess I'll get it lol. Thanks for the heads up!

Ok so I had some time today to do the install. I have to say, taking the grille off is kind of a pita.

But alas, I chose to only do the top for now. There isn’t a great way to mount in the location I chose. Im still mulling over a possible bracket to make mounting the strip easier/ allow for a straighter line.

I think it’s pretty cool looking. Deciding whether to add a lower one as well.
I’m playing the Knight Rider theme song in my head, I like it Michael 👍

Any progress wiring up your idea?

I’m currenty
Trying to illuminate the orange strip across the grille. Leaning towards a backlit amber acrylic setup. Very similar to what’s in the headlights.

Just tying to find the right components that I can bend to the right shape.

I've tried a few different things, but it all basically just lights up the whole inside of the grille (I'll attach a pic). I've been busy with the other exterior stuff, so I haven't tried much the last couple weeks though tbh.

That actually looks pretty sick!

I agree, it doesn't look bad by any means, I just get stubborn when I'm trying to get something a specific way lol.

So I had some time to work on a proof of concept for my Tremor grille today. I’m basically trying to make custom light bars to replace the orange trim pieces. I was successful in bending some aluminum u channel to match the general shape of the trim pieces. I’ll be ordering some stuff this week and hopefully adding the light strip to the channels and refining the shape and attachment

I respect the hell out of y'alls 'doing' while I've yet to lift a finger for any vanity mods so I'm going to give away my grand idea/solution: Electroluminescent Tape.

Can get it in varying widths and most of them are a little thinner than a credit card so it should lend itself to direct mounting over the grille's centerline, and their light output is a little more subdued and appropriate for our purposes.

I was just looking at EL tape the other night. I just don’t know how well it will stick and if rain/car wash would just destroy it.

But it’s a very intriguing product.

Great idea! Can’t wait to see the end product

Some more progress today!

Got the metal u channels bent to a final form that i think will work out well. Also got some acrylic bar in and the color seems pretty great. Did a test bend, I need to improve my acrylic bending skills but the concept is sound.

Also need to get some different lighting that is more diffused. But so far, very promising!

I’ll take the heavy set Indian chief costume please, how much horsepower and improvement in fuel economy will I gain while wearing it?

This thread is amazing, just picked mine up today and I’m definitely doing this! Hope it will look good with the Anti Blue

Got some different led strip today. Looks better, but still deciding on what route to take lighting wise.

Note: my camera over exposes the shots outside so the light looks more reddish orange than it actually does to the eye.

This is a really cool idea. I don’t care for the “raptor looking” lights but I do like the tremor lights.

Wow - you’ve come a long way on this! Is it possible to dial in the brightness to more closely match the marker light strip?

Incredible work!
