Tire Talk

It's your call they seem to be good tires for the first 30-40k after that the seem to get slick on wet roads, if it's a killer deal and you live in a less rainy environment go for it.
I live in NC, basically on Bragg. So I would say there is a bit of rain.

It was either those or the Mickey Thompson MTX p3 (whoch ive never heard anything about) that I can get a deal on. The K02's came out to under $1000 though....didn't know if the tradeoff was worth it.

Have I ever said I hate Bragg, it's right behind Ft. Erwin, Ft. Polk and Leonardwood....😁. If you can get them under $1000 then by all means it's your call, I would probably go for it, living on base or near that area your speeds aren't going to be up and not many steep hills, they will be fine, just keep in mind that somewhere around 30k+ that you will need to allow for slippage on wet roads.

I'd add Carson to that list, but I'm not keen on heavy units so that's biased....

Part of me wants to try the MTZ's (idk why I put "x" up there) since people like the baja's so much. They're only a couple hundred more and reviews are good....but no exp like I said.

Guess I'll go look at em both and see what sticks out.

The mtz's are a mud tire so they will be a bit louder and rougher on the road, you won't get as much mileage out of them either, but if those are the two your looking into then either will be a good option of the price is right. I can't add Carson because never been there, the units that I worked with from there left a lot to be desired though.

We annexed Polk to house the Golden Knights museum.

My truck showed up. Asked dealer about the tires because they claimed that have no idea what tires will show up on it. He verified “P” rated grabbers. See below definition of “P” rated.
A "P" listed in front of the tire size indicates that it is "P-metric" size. P-metric stands for passenger vehicle. Passenger vehicles are cars (for example sedans and coupes), minivans, or CUVs, but can also be trucks that do not carry extra heavy loads or run on gravel roads.

My pet peeve. Unbelievable

Yeah, that sucks. I'm sure it was a decision aimed at cost, MPG's, cost, ride quality, cost, and so on. BUT, also, Ford probably knows that MANY MANY Tremor owners will ditch the OEM tires for a different size or more aggressive tire (or both) immediately so why spend the money there. Think of it this way maybe, if they delivered your truck with the same size and type tire but in an LT, but made you pay $400(?) more, would you do it or would you take that extra dough and buy the tires you really want? Trying to look at the positives here....

I can chime in on Toyo Open Country AT/3
- Ride quality 4/5 (better than BFK K/O IMO but not as nice as Michelin LTX)
- Offroad traction - No real opinion on this.
- Longevity 5/5. I got about 90k out of my first set and have about 50k on my second set with 70%+ tread left
- Noise 4/5. Not noisy at all when new. As they wear down they get louder but it's not like a M/T or louder than any other A/T tire.

When my stock tires wear out I will replace with these.
These are my Toyo AT3's after 2 seasons.....not impressed with the cracking but loved the performance.

FWIW: When I bought my last truck it had a set of the Toyo Open Country AT/3 on it that were 4-5 years old and had about 25k miles on them. They were loud, rode like crap, slick in wet weather and were cracking/chunking. They looked like the tires in the previous post. Personally, I'd never buy another set of Toyos.

If you out 35’s on stick wheels do you have to adjust the offset at all?

Most 35's require a wider rim than the stock 7.5", however there are a few of the narrow 35's that will work on the stock wheel.

Two thumbs up to a Tremor owner that's not scared to run chrome again and pick a wheel other than a rebel. Looks great

Any feedback out there yet on the Wildpeak RT? I had the at3w on an old Xterra and loved them in rain and snow, but would like a more aggressive look - enter the RT. Have yet to hear any real world feedback on them though since they're still pretty new

There's a few YouTubers who have good things to say about them, one had issues with a set he ordered online but was able to get that rectified thru discount tire. The only thing I will note against them is they are not 3pms rated and per Falken they will not be. So if you run on roads that require that rating then it wouldn't be beneficial, AKA mountain passes or in Canada. Unless you are ok with running chains on those areas.

Aware of the 3pmsf... And we are in the mountains of Washington so technically they're "required" but there's a literal zero chance of ever being hassled for it, especially in a 4x4 truck with obvious knobby tires. Hell the cops aren't allowed to even pull over car thieves here.

I had a 2017 Tundra that I was chasing vibration issues so I went through TONS! of tires on that truck. I had a set of Toyo AT2's, BFG KO2's, Cooper AT3 XLT and Toyo AT3's. Heres my opinions on all of them being 95% highway use only:

Toyo AT2- replaced by the AT3 so I will just leave this one alone. Road unbalanced from day 1

KO2- best looking AT tire of the three in my opinion. They were quiet and very in control. Did well in wet conditions and offroad did fine but never really pushed them. Biggest con they struggled to balance them.

Cooper AT3 XLT- I cannot express how quiet these things were. 35" tires and not even a hum at any speed. Loved these tires but they wore uneven after a year and gave me all my money back.

Toyo AT3- Balanced and road the best of all 4 sets of tires. Lookswise they are pretty nice too. Biggest down fall was they were loud and got louder as they wore. Do well offroad like the KO2 but the loudness alone would push me away from these next time.

Of all the tires I would say I would look at the Stock Generals (on my tremor now) or the KO2 for my next tire.

Hi everyone, been lurking for a while now. I got a 23 Tremor back in March. This is my 3rd F-150. Absolutely love it, except for the highway ride. Hate the General Grabbers. I am at 13k, they are noisy, can’t cruise the highway over 78 without a very noticeable shake. Had them rotated twice and road force balanced 3 times. They seem to be getting worse with age so much I find myself taking my wife’s Honda Pilot for highway trips.

My past F150 went though 3 sets of Michelin Defenders. Awesome ride and quiet. That truck was a 2wd grandpa truck but it served me well.

This truck will see 99% of its life on the highway and driving kids to school, only reason I got the tremor… it looked awesome and I wanted 4wd for slippery boat ramps.

Talk me out of installing non AT Defenders on a Tremor… or thoughts on a AT tire that is quieter than the stock Generals!

I know, blasphemy to even consider a highway tire on a Tremor…

Ultimately the tire you choose is up to you, what you feel comfortable with, granted I would and have gone with a more aggressive tire but a slightly less aggressive at tires such as the cooper At3 or the Falken rubitrek should fit your bill very well, still give it somewhat of an aggressive look, maintain snow and ice capability with some offroad use while maintaining a quieter ride. There are several at tires that are less aggressive that maintain a quiet and vibration free ride. Michelin makes a great tire but they make a better car tire than truck tire, not to mention the cost for what you get. JS
