Did ford change the part number for 2023?
I checked on amazon and it shows (Does not fit)
Appreciate your help
Its telling me that the bearing number wont fit my 2021. Its saying NL3Z4220A. I think its wrong because its telling me the race doesn't fit as well and the replacement is the bearing part I just gave you.Are the quantities below correct for this mod?
QTY 1: M-4204-F150LS
QTY 2: XW4Z-4221-AA
QTY 2: D9AZ-4222-A
i see your parts list.....but dont see anything about changing cv axles?. so...the standard axles that were for open front diff work with the torsion? i know when you look up cv axles at parts store, it says with limited slip diff, without limited slip ect.Well - with a few members going through adding a Torsen front differential to our trucks I thought it would be wise to consolidate information in to one place to help each other out!
The Ford Performance part number is M-4204-F150LS which is confirmed by Torsen directly to be the correct part.
Based on my internet research the carrier bearings needed are XW4Z-4221-AA along with the bearing races/cones D9AZ-4222-A. These are the Ford part numbers.
I was quoted $550 for the labor to install the diff by a local offroad shop in SLC, UT. They're a few weeks out but hopefully I'll have this installed soon!
Anyone else going through this journey... share your info and experiences!

Adding a data point today, and wanted to thank the community here for the part numbers. Its telling me that the bearing number wont fit my 2021. Its saying NL3Z4220A. I think its wrong because its telling me the race doesn't fit as well and the replacement is the bearing part I just gave you.
It was an option in the earlier years.I'm confused. I thought all 402a Tremors had the Torsen differential. Is that not the case?
Fair enough. Most of my research covered the 2024 and 2025 trucks. I was aware of the whole projector headlight change that tons of people bring up on the forum here.It was an option in the earlier years.
To be fair, Ford has continued to decrease the best options since 2022 and the whole covid schamedic as an excuse.Fair enough. Most of my research covered the 2024 and 2025 trucks. I was aware of the whole projector headlight change that tons of people bring up on the forum here.
can you list the part numbers you used?Adding a data point today, and wanted to thank the community here for the part numbers.
Just added the Torsen to my 22' 402A - as it's literally the only option it didnt have from the factory
Diff: $582.00 - Ford Performance
Bearings/Races: $60.00
Labor: $725.00 - 5.5 hours
Note, upon inspection my trucks bearings were already damaged. The truck has 31,000 miles, and this caught both me and the shop by surprise. No one understands why, coming from 80's landcruisers - seeing bearings look like this after 30k on street duty is concerning to me.
If anyone doing this is having second thoughts about buying new bearings/races. GET THEM. if anyone knows why these might be so bad, I'd appreciate the wisdom
First page, first post of this threadcan you list the part numbers you used?
A few times a year ford performance toss's a 20% off code - that's the one you want to wait for, and how I got it at a quasi reasonable deal.Thats pretty crazy that the races look like that even if they had ran for 30k actual miles. But i doubt you would be in 4x4 for 30k. Very Odd.
Where did you find the diff for sale for $582.
Happy to hear I have the torsen for 4a sport mode funA few times a year ford performance toss's a 20% off code - that's the one you want to wait for, and how I got it at a quasi reasonable deal.
After doing some research, it turns out that non-torsen equipped 402A trucks with prolonged use of 4A will have the same issues with the races you're seeing here. As the 4WD system repeatedly engages to ensure traction, it shocks both sides, in the same places on each race, resulting in that awful wear.
With the Torsen carrier this is mitigated by design.
So it looks like I would've been there anyways, so having the Torsen put in saved me the aggravation later, for those of you who dont, and regularly use 4A, you might be wearing those races faster than you think.
