Tremor Rear Shock Options

Awesome, I just ordered the same setup. Can’t wait to see how it rides! I did upgrade to 295/70/18 ridge grapplers

Just got the Icon 2.5s delivered today.
They are noticeably stiffer than both stock and halolifts shocks. For example on the soft setting the Icons need my full 210lbs pushing down to compress the shocks whereas the stock shocks I would say I could compress with about 100lbs of force.

Measurement wise the Icons look like they'll have about 3/4" of shaft exposed at full compression and will be the limiting factor of downtravel by about 1". After some internal deliberation I think I'm willing to sacrifice the downtravel in order to not bottom the shock out and allow the bump stops to actually absorb any bottoming out instead of the shocks.

Yeah I will do so too. I wanted to pull the shock off and see if it is blown out or anything before I contacted them.
Any response from Halo on this issue? I thought their whole thing was that they were one of the first and few companies to offer a tested Tremor configuration.

Their rear shock measurement is a little off compared to stock but not much, the front coilovers are the one thing that really works for our trucks. The one shock that we have found to be an almost exact match for the rear is the Bilstein 5165, it is only off by a .1 I think. They are a bit stiffer than normal but with a load on the rear are about perfect. @Yeti I think is currently running them.

This is the 5165:

And pretty pleased with them.

Hey y'all, I got my Icon 2.5 CDCV shocks mounted this weekend and HOLY CRAP they ride so much nicer than the 2.0 shocks. The rear end feels much more controlled especially on the rebound stroke.

I can confirm that you loose about 3/4" of down travel with these shocks but they leave about 1" of exposed shock shaft at full compression of the bump stop so zero risk of bottoming the shock out.

did you do just the rears or all four corners? What position are you running the compression clickers at?

Just the rears at the moment - my front is actually 100% stock at the moment but I'm going to order Icons with UCAs for the front very soon.

I haven't played with the clickers at all yet - I just have them set at 3 and it feels great for driving around down.
Based on adjustments from my Tacoma I'll go full stiff when towing or hauling. Then 6 or 7 for offroading

You’re speaking my language… getting a single solution that could address towing, off roading, and daily driving Vs mixing and matching shocks and airbags/RAS is very attractive.

I'm assuming you have a Tremor. What part number did you go with? I went on there site and they all say not for Tremor.

So they changed that recently. They used to state it was compatible with the Tremor at a reduced lift height. It's an ongoing issue for me since my truck was no longer insurable with improper equipment. Effectively, I paid $2,300'ish to use my coilovers for 6 months. Looks like I may get a chance to test out Elkas and Sway-Away, afterall.

That sucks man.

not sure, honestly. They also say we have a 3" rear block. Maybe I'll plan my trip to AZ, this year and let them take a look. Heck, I may even swing by when they receive my Icons.
I live in the Phoenis area, maybe I should give Stage 3 a call.

How are you liking the icons? I’m thinking about pulling the trigger on a set, just a little worried about possibly over extending them. I don’t do any hardcore off-roading but my truck definitely doesn’t stay on the pavement full time.

I talked to Icon today and they will be realeasing Tremor specific kits in a month or so. Several stage options will be out all at once.

interesting.

i have been eyeing the currently available option based on folks on here running them and Hotshot Offroad's tremor running them. i'm assuming the only real difference will be to not limit the down travel at all? I worry they are going to place a premium on them too just casue they are "Tremor Specific".

i have started noticing my back end seems to "hop" on washboard roads and such. its pretty annoying.

I've been happy with my normal F150 rear shocks thus far. I don't think I've topped them out at all yet - that may change this weekend though when I get out in the desert for the first time this year.

That being said - if/when Icon does release a Tremor specific kit I'll probably get both front and rears cuz just knowing I'm limited in travel still irks me

Btw. my front suspension is 100% stock at the moment

I'd love to upgrade just the shocks, front and back. I don't think I'd change the rake more than 1/2" lift in front, as I think it looks good and suits actually loading the bed or hitch up. I think the ride is very comfortable and kind of fun, but I know from experience that good Off-road shocks make the trucks very sporty with excellent body control. I've had Radflo in the past, I'm going to check with them, as this is really a pretty easy cat to skin.

Did a "reverse-level" on my 402A this weekend with the shorter 1" 4x4 rear block and U-bolts along with Fox shocks (FOX985-24-265-2 21-23 F150 FOX 2.0 IFP) in the rear only. Only had about 500 miles on it at the time, but it does feel more planted when driving. Still has about 2" of rake and is way less noticeable, especially with wheel well liners. Having done the spacer or Bilstein 5100's on previous trucks, I didn't want to mess with the front suspension on this one with the dynamic headlights, cruise, etc. Very happy with the results. Will post a pic later.
