…….i can see it now…….Ford voiding the entire warranty on the TREMOR because the running boards were swapped from one side to the other side.

……..It’s amazing how so many people are so quick to jump onto something like this especially since before seeing the video, they never reported any issues.

I questioned the dealer at the time of purchase they said there all like that well they're wrong . The video is correct .the angled part is behind mudflap so rocks shouldn't get up past . I just switched mine and now the mirror light shines on the ford on running boards . And the grooves in the step line up with the doors

Swapping my trucks this weekend.
It's crazy that no one at Ford realized their mistake. (probably never will )
They must never ask the engineers/designers to review the final product. It's crystal clear that they were installed reversed, once you know.

Are the 21-23's the same as the 24 & 25's?

Something something if you asked people what they wanted they would say faster horses.

And yes the 21-23 trucks use Gen 2 style boards while 24+ running boards were changed to the same style as Gen 3 Raptors as a cost cut to simplify product supply. 25+ Raptors and Tremors (and now the 26 Lightning STX) share the exact same boards. They removed Raptor specific stampings further increasing cost cuts.

It does seem to make sense to swap them. However, according to Ford:

Sorry....looks like they are now mounted backwards.

Of course the boards are supposed to be wider aft of the front wheel....the flared out part also protects the body from rocks being thrown as the front wheels are steered left/right. When that happens, more tread will be exposed throwing even more crap up against the body.

Eh…. I like them flipped. Gonna run with it for now. I mean ive seen plenty of trucks with power steps and big tires with no issues. To reach their own.

I think maybe the tapering is right wide in the front but those holes were in the wrong spot from the factory. I bet thats what happened when they were designed

Was thinking the same regarding blocking the rocks from the front tires. We've been on a ton of roads, (paved, unpaved, gravel, etc) and I've been pleasantly surprised how little thrown rocks have hit the sides.

I think it's rather obvious, the holes in the steps are faced in an aero dynamic position from factory. Also, the wider end in current location helps keep mud and snow off the body of the truck as well. I think those who belive they are facing the wrong direction might also be flat earthers or believe COVID was indeed a pandemic.

Funny... This was covered a few years back and on a few youtube videos.. old Raptor running boards actually had the holes outlined which made it even more apparent that it seemed to look "right" when switched... I have seen the arguements about being more aerodynamic.. nah... others considering better rock protection... maybe, but don't the mud flaps help with that? and then of course the others who think it is a great "step" to either access the windshield or when reversed, better access to the bed... I think the side mirror pokes out too much and you would either have to be a catortionist to keep the right balance for windshield access or suck in the dad bod belly. Reversed running boards might make it easier for the bed access but again, not a huge difference in footing space as it terminates too early before the bed starts. Another balancing act and no real purpose unlike the integrated instep on the SuperDuty Tremor

Take a look at some of the aftermarket runningboards and many of them are tappered at both ends or at the front.. Someone should tell Go Rhino they are really screwed up....The ford ones appear to be more designed as a offroad hybrid runningboard/ rockslider. They are tucked inward and high enough to the body that it is trying to be a little of both.

I don't think Ford made a mistake but some of the specific design features definitely conflict with eachother. Take a look at the older raptor running boards I snagged from a youtube video from 2 years ago, it does look better reversed regardless of the intended application.

Just did mine today !! Works and looks Way better. No more dirt where I get in now, most of the dirt falls throw the holes. Way better.

This was the very first thing I did when I bought my truck a little over two years ago. Let me tell you, I averaged a 37Hp and 123FtLb torque increase, I get 47MPG after the switch! My tow capacity went UP by 2,300 LBS and the chicks, man the chicks, I just can't keep up!!! HAHAHAHA, no way no how did Ford install thousands and thousands of steps on the wrong side of the trucks, but switch away if you will!

It is possible if they're labeled right and left depending on how u look at the truck if it was the same three people on assembly line if laneled passenger driver side i get it wasnt installed wrong .. once you switch you will see they look as what they should be .hahaha
