Wait what!!!! [Running Boards]

I got bored this weekend and did mine

My theory is they designed them with the tapered part forward. Then somebody decided the wide part should be forward for protection or whatever reason. Then they skimped on redesign etc and just swapped them.

Or maybe ford in their infinite wisdom and consideration for their customers designed them to go either way.
 
Also the wide part is 1/2” more forward than the tapered side.
 
I agree that they were probably made to fit the vehicle with the ford to the front...but....after driving in gravel all weekend I would not want to swap them from how they came from factory. They definately stopped rocks from being slung up the side of the truck.

Not a fan of the aesthetic of mud flaps on the front...easier to just keep the steps the way they are. Lol. Either way you run them wont look bad or take away from the truck.

Not everyone likes mud flaps not to mention that you’re suggesting a solution to possibly fix an issue that wasn’t there in the first place.
Kind of like a self inflicted wound.😂
 
MIL visiting this weekend so I installed this so I wouldn't have to watch Ohio football inside the house. Super simple and no cost mod haha. Will update with photos and review later.
 
I swapped and swapped back the protection up front from rocks is better with the wider part up front. No need for flaps.
