What's new

Went in for first service and leaving with a new motor.

Not for the racing aspect haha, but the 3.5 does have more HP and better fuel mileage. Not to mention the company would give me compensation for it having a better EPA rating. Idk, the biggest thing that worries me bout the truck is the ridiculous shifting from 5th to 6th. Downshifting is a bit rough too. Even my Cummins with a 68RFE shifted better haha
Yes, the 3.5 does have more HP and TQ, but better fuel mileage?
With the EB engines, you can have good economy or you can have boost but, you definitely can’t have both at the same time.

If you don’t have a heavy foot while driving the 5.0, getting 19.5-22.5 MPG is very doable.

Haven’t got to 19 mpg yet (39k odo). And I don’t really drive with a lead foot. I’m getting anywhere from 15.5 to 17.5 mpg. The higher end sit to TX HWY’s. I don’t have any mods other than a hard top bed cover. And peeling the hideous Tremor stickers off the bed.

What am I doing wrong?!

This is what I do to get my posted MPG.
55-60 MPH max speed, use speed control whenever possible, and I use 93 octane fuel.

The fact that the 5.0 is a four cylinder certainly helps mileage.

You can’t do 60 mph on Texas Highways, you’ll get run over haha.
