What's new

🛠️ What have you done to your F150 Tremor this week?

Very easy mod, a little nerve wracking, but no really permanence to it.....
That's my kind of mod. Even if I have no plans on reselling, I always feel better if I can go back to stock.

I installed a set of Diode Dynamics SSC1 pods with red backlighting as reverse lights.

I used mounting brackets from a company called Shifts and Grins fabrication. they mounts the pods up inside/behind the tow hooks. hooks are still useable with a strap or soft shackles.

I used the specialty performance vehicles full length rear harness to wire the lights to an upfitter as well as their tail light harness that plugs into the full length harness. this allows the tail lights to trigger the backlight as well as the main light when in reverse. its a really nice harness setup. Plugs in line with the tail light connectors so no t taps.

Storage for the two hunting dogs in the fall/winter. And hoping to add a tent system to the top of the cap next year.
Wouldnt fit in the airport garage here if I was any taller... I just graze the swinging warning pipe as-is.... yikes.

Dammit I was trying to be good and hold out for a builtright sale. Killin me...as usual lol

so not to change any of your plans but thought id offer up some experience.

the builtright panels are a great product. nicely made. can easily mount plenty of things on them.

what i've found is that if you have a roll up bed cover with the canister by the bulkhead, the front panels are essentially useless. if you have any form of bed extender, the rear panels are also essentially useless...

just some thoughts based on how things turned out for my use case.

I've got a folder/only really care about the gate side panels anyway (mounting my deltapro basically) I could find use for the rear ones I'm sure but good to know it's close back there. Closest reasonable idea I have for the rears are fishing rod holders angled out the back.

Mind shooting over some links for the harnesses you ended up with from SPV? I've been stalking you for ages over the OPT7 rear bar 😆

Harnesses are as follows: Full Length Rear harness to go from upfitter wire to rear bumper that splits to 2 light connectors: https://specialtyperformanceparts.c...s-system-works-with-many-vehicles-see-details

Tail light interconnect harness to trigger lights with tail lights and reverse lights: https://specialtyperformanceparts.c...s-system-works-with-many-vehicles-see-details

the full length harness comes with 2 plugs that the tail light harness plugs into in order to tie it into the main harness.

for diode dynamics lights that use a DT connector, you will need to add the DT 4 way extenders(i didn't as i made my own, so that's an option if you have the connectors and crimpers)

also, here is the link to the brackets i used: https://www.shiftsandgrinsfabricati...rue&sa=false&sbp=false&q=false&category_id=11

That’s what I thought but the 2 wire for the tail light connection looked like it wouldn’t do rev, amber turns, and stop. Thanks

yea, those harnesses wont provide the turn or brake features. i had to use the combination of a curt in line trailer harness t-harness to a 5pin connector and add on the pwm module from opt7 in order to not get the trailer tow messages. it was a bit of a PITA for that tailgate bar.

although, i hear the putco harness has its own problems too from a couple of folks with it.

Looks good!
Side pillar posts have been a pet peeve of mine with F-150s. You look at them and they scratch. Why not offer a factory carbon fiber option for those that get off road, or even have limbs hanging over their driveways? I don’t get it.
Thanks and same for me on the pillars. Been an issue on my last 2 so figured this time jump on them while the truck is still new. They look phenomenal now

New wheels and Tires to go with a Halo 2.5 shock diameter lift!
Wheels: Method MR317 18x9 +18 offset
Tires: Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T 305/70/18 (actual measurement: 35.3"x12.2")
Lift: Stock rear aside from 2.5 Halo shocks and airbags w/ daystar cradles, front coil-overs, shocks, UCA's and there is about 7/8"-1" of threads showing above the adjustment collar

Different strokes and all, but after a ton of research, I feel this is THE way to go for performance as far as tires, size, offset and lift. Coming from a diesel with Carli Pintop suspension and 37" Nitto Ridge Grapplers (multiple sets) that was purpose built for my 30mi round trip on a very rough road, I think this setup on the Tremor handles the rough sh*t with extreme poise. Online pictures do not do the Baja Boss' justice, they are more aggressive looking in person than ridge grapplers, E rated, 3-peak snow rated, and mileage warranty. We'll see how they do this winter, but rockstar setup so far. No rubbing at all (not even plastic trimming) and not so much poke that the rocks hammer the truck, but enough for great looks.

Hope this helps someone who was on the fence about Mickey's (cannot attest to the snow performance yet), size, offset, and what lift to run, like I was.
Def give us a wet pavement and a snow report as soon as you can. Those look great... But I absolutely gotta have good rain traction with occasional week or two of snow.

I’m looking to do a very similar build (Halo lift, 295/70r/18 Cooper AT3 XLT, 18x9 wheels, haven’t decided on which brand yet).

Also, what size block did you choose when ordering the lift? And would you (or anyone else who sees this) think 12mm offset would suffice for that size tire? Or go up to 18? I don’t mind the tires sticking out from the fender. Id prefer to minimize any cutting, if possible

I added the rear Split View to mine last night. Was struggling to get the off road rock crawl view (front wheels) to do anything beyond a blue screen but got this one to work at least. It works at any speed. Not quite the turn signal view I was also hoping to enable but still very nice to be able to flick on and use especially in tight turns. Just wish I could get those front angles to work.

was this just forscan changes or just through the main interface?

Whoa this is kinda cool. How do you get to this when you're using the truck? Camera hard button, then an onscreen button I'm guessing?

Also to make sure I understand, it looks like a blind spot view facing the rear on each side? Wish this came up on screen when changing lanes like a Tesla....

Yes you hit the camera button to bring up rear view like you normally would while driving then you hit the on screen button to bring up available views and select this one. You can do it without driving as well of course and it’ll stay on when you depart.

I am trying to work on the turn signal views but there’s not enough resolution in the ForScan databases to determine how to get it to actually work.
Very cool. So just adds another view to choose from? Love it. Why doesn't Ford give us these obviously available choices by default..... Mystery....

And considering the laughable hood height of modern full size and even mid size vehicles I’m amazed Ford hasn’t added a front wheel/angle camera option at all yet.

I literally have no idea what's happening below the front and right fenders.... (JK who cares, truck looks cool! 🤣😎)

Thanks for the expanded info!

Do you have photos of the after been wanting to do this. Also where did you buy the blocks from and did you replace the U Bolts or just add some washers?
I bought them at ford garage. The stock u bolts work.

Kept the stock block. +12 would probably do fine, but 0 would rub for sure with my tire specs.
