What made you decide to buy a Tremor?

I've been driving two-tone Ford trucks since my first vehicle out of college (Ranger). I was on my second F150 (2011) with 147K miles on it that was still running strong. I loved that truck, but it was slowly rusting out from underneath me. Had her hooked up to my boat in the driveway one night and forgot that I'd left the keys on the console while I was rigging the boat. Went to bed that night and was awakened by a cop at my door at 1:30 in the morning. Some a$$hole decided to break in - found the keys and went joyriding. Thankfully the boat broke loose with only minor damage, but they totaled that truck and I eventually found her in some woods, beaten all to hell. Broke my heart and found myself having to replace it way earlier than I had expected.

I was simply looking for another used basic, blue/two-tone XLT, but they were hard to find. I had no interest or idea what a Tremor was, but there was one on the lot when I was test driving a different vehicle. The salesman noticed me look at the Tremor as we passed by it in the XLT and laughed and said, "You just found your truck". I knew the price was way out of what I was willing to spend so I laughed it off. After the test drive of the XLT, he made me take the Tremor for a test drive. It was over at that point. I was ruined and after some hard negotiations I got the price where I needed it.

Every time I look at that truck, I smile.

My fourth Raptor, a 2024 Raptor R, came in and there was a Tremor on the lot that was perfect (5.0 and everything I'd want). Raptor R was about $137K out the door and the Tremor was $77K out the door... I'm thinking: $60K?? Love the decision, don't miss the R as my best friend bought it, so I drive it on occasion. The Raptor is smoother on the streets and, of course, rips across the fields on our ranch. But it couldn't tow nearly as much as I'd need it to with the boat and car hauler I've got coming in. So, the choice was clear and, with the 5.0 for me, it gave me what I call, 'The AR-15 of trucks', as I can now spend endless amounts of $$$ on mods. All of which I do myself. Waiting on the SC and, yes, I'll have to have the dealership put that in to get the warranty on it.
If money wasn’t an issue you should have stepped up to SD tremor or Shelby SD.

Grew up in a Ford household and have driven dozens of them over the years. All my dads work and personal trucks. From 90’s diesel super duty pickups, mid 2000 power strokes, a couple gas 150’s, even a V10 gas at one point. My high school car was Ford, my grandfathers 65 Mustang. Fast forward and I’ve had a turbo subaru legacy for about 16 years and have wanted a pickup of my own for a while. I have no use for a super duty, just a half ton and wanted something with some pep.

I didn’t blindly jump into a ford. I test drove every other truck in the half ton segment. Maybe it’s a little of the familiarity with fords, but I liked the F150 much better than the competition. A Raptor really was my dream truck for a while when it first came out and I was really tempted with this latest generation. But, when I thought really hard about it and what I really needed, it just wasn’t the right fit for many reasons. Price being a big one, but parking would have been a nightmare with my garage at work. I instead landed on the tremor. I don’t mean that to sound like the truck is a compromise. The more I thought about it the more I realized it’ll be every bit a comparible, or even better truck for my use case. I really wanted a full time AWD option and was looking for that slightly more aggressive off-road stance and will tow and haul a bit. The orange accents grabbed my attention too (have ridden KTMs for 15yrs).

I signed off to buy one out of state a couple weeks ago. Weird out of state rules I can’t drive it home until it’s registered and the DMV is taking there sweet time processing. So I’m just here stalking the forums while I impatiently wait 😆.

I didn’t blindly jump into a ford. I test drove every other truck in the quarter ton segment. Maybe it’s a little of the familiarity with fords, but I liked the F150 much better than the competition. Granger Ford and Toyota's "ordering" process.

I'd been set on a midsize truck for a while. I'd had an F150 Raptor in the past and while it was a ton of fun, it was also a pain to park so when I was looking for a truck to replace the Rubicon, I wanted something smaller.

I saw a new generation of Ranger was coming and then found out about the Ranger Raptor. I was pretty set on one until every dealer decided to add $5K to $10K and that's just crazy. Then the new Colorado/Canyon were coming and I actually ordered a Canyon AT4X but had second thoughts and decided to wait for the new Tacoma. I was gung ho on a Tacoma TRD Pro but then the prices came out. It wasn't a huge surprise but disappointing to be in the $65K range plus whatever the importers decided to add.

Somewhere along the line I found out about F150 Tremors and Granger Ford. I also found out ordering a Toyota is telling your dealer what you want and hoping Toyota builds it and your dealer can get it. Then I test drove a Tremor and drove over to a Toyota dealership right after and sat in a new Tacoma. Wow, just, no comparison. The Tremor was way nicer, roomier, etc. Yeah, it was comparing a midsize to a full size but still, so much nicer.

So, at the end of the day, I could order exactly what I wanted vs hoping to get kind of what I wanted and, with Granger's 4% under invoice, the price difference was roughly $3K.

It was a no brainer, the Tremor easily won and dealing with Granger was great.

Congrats and welcome to the club and forum.

🤔😳 Yes, those are very weird DMV rules.

Usually all you need is proof of insurance when picking it up and your selling dealer handles everything else.
