Aux switch wiring?

Crimp and shrink tube it is. Now I just need to decide on what options to get. First world problems.

Thanks for all the information.
I just looked at my 2022 F-150 TREMOR and did not find any of these mentioned wires.
I just installed a three LED light in the grill (like the RAPTOR) and had to tap them into the DRL (daylight running light) but problem is, stays on whenever the truck is on, so I wish I could get more insight in trying to run the power cables to one of the accessory switches, I I would have control to when to turn them on.
ANY HELP please?
Thanks a lot,
Enjoying my tremor...

Hey Braseagle.
I just ran some KC ditch lights to the A pillar and used the powered aux cables under the hood. I'm a little surprised that you don't see the cables. Do you think they are missing all together? I can tell you that they can be a little hard to find. Or I had a hart time finding them anyway.
It helps to remove the battery completely. Once you do that, you should find a couple of bundles of black tipped (pre cut and sealed) wires between where the battery was and the fender wall. One bundle has red tape on it and one bundle has yellow. The red bundle is the powered bundle and the yellow bundle leads back to the other set of cables in the passenger foot area fuse panel. The yellow bundle is just used to connect the interior bundle to a device from inside the hood. But if you want to use the AUX switches and need power to a device, you will use the red taped bundle.
You should be able to use one of these powered cables to run those lights with an AUX switch.
I also think there is a way to tap into the headlights switch so as to run the lights every time you turn on the headlights. I have no experience with this configuration though.
I can get you pictures of the bundle location if you need it.

Thanks a LOT for the great information.
I am handy, usually do all the work on my cars, but this is my first brand new TRUCK and I was hesitant to work on it.
Great information, and of course, no rush, but if you can share some pictures, I would be grateful to you, as I really want to re-connect my grill lights to one of the aux switches instead of the Truck DRL,. just do not know how.
Thanks again.
my cell and whatsApp number is 1-954-218-4435 in case you want to share some info.
Take care buddy,

Sure. Ill post some photos here today.
I realize there is surprising little on the F150 up-fitter situation.
It was surprising to me. There is a ton of info on the raptor up-fitter, and the F250 up-fitter switches, but not the F150. Its weird.
I had to put together a bunch of separate info to get mine up and running.
I'm happy to help!

OK. I tried to get you a series of shots zooming in so you can get a reference of where the up-fitter cables are under the hood.

Like I said, there are two bundles. One with red tape and one with yellow. The red are the powered cables. Use these if y our lights need power as I assume they do. If you use these powered up-fitter cables you should not need any other power for the lights so you don’t need to have any other runs to the battery or anything.

If you look at your Tremor user manual online you will find the up-fitter color decoder to know which cable goes to which up-fitter switch. This will also tell you how many amps each is rated for. For instance, AUX 1 below is rated for 10A. If your lights amp rating is 10 or less, then you can use the Violet/green wire and use the Aux 1 switch. If they need more, then use Aux 2.

Just use the appropriate AUX for the lights you are using.

Also, run the cables to the area first, the AUX wires are really short. So you are going to need to pull the cable from the lights right to the location of the cables behind the battery.

Really helpful.
Thanks again, will try to reconnect my lights.
Cheers

Stupid question on my part but, black and red from my ditch lights to the bundle by the battery, is there a +&- to connect to?

Only the positive. Use a common ground for ground

Yeti is right.
I joined both of my grounds and connected them to the (black) ground on the headlight side of the battery.
See the black cable and bolt on the left side of this closeup:

But any conveniently located ground should work.

Hey guys, I have a question.

I have the fender gill lights (amber) to install. I know most people just wire these to the DRL or something that comes on with their headlights so at night they are illuminated, but I want a little more control.

Is there a way I could wire the lights so that they come on with the headlights (at night), but only if I activate AUX 1? This way if I wire them to AUX 1 and forget they are on, when I shut the truck off, they will turn off anyway.

Or is AUX 1 only active is the key is on? If so, that would probably work as well. I know they are just LED's and would not kill the battery over night, but I just dont want to forget they are on, and also just dont want them on all the time at night.

Thanks!!

The six switches are only powered when the truck is on. So you can’t leave them on by accident.

Yes, like @BoostKing said, the switches power down when the truck is off.
This was a nice surprise for me when I figured it out.
Sometimes Ford gets it right.

That's pretty cool. Now, a better question. Can I have it so that the lights will only turn on IF two conditions are met.
  1. The AUX switch is on.
  2. The Headlights are on.
This way it would be something I could turn off at any time, but also when the aux is on would only work if the headlights are on. I'm assuming I would have to get creative with a relay?

Now that does sound nice.
But that's above my pay grade.
My paygrade = $0.00.
Maybe we have an electrician on the board that can toss that around a bit?
I know Yeti has had some well informed comments on the electricals..

If both conditions have to be met for the yellow lights to come on i.e. A and B, then you would wire the switching in series. Sounds easy, but can be a bit of a wiring challenge depending on how it gets structured. Basically you want the headlights to control a relay (switch) inline with the positive lead to the LED's. That way if the headlights are on the circuit would be powered and the AUX1 would turn then on/off. Alternatively if AUX1 was left on and the headlights were off, the relay would be open so no LED's. With a little Googling on relays you could probably use a low cost Amazon wiring harness with a relay to source the required parts. Then it's just a matter of tapping into the headlight power to trip the relay.

Or one or two relays. Or a 2 high relay

I thin either 6 or 5 and 6 can bet active if you set the proper switch in the engine fuse panel

Awesome. So it is possible. I thought it probably was with enough wizardry.

  1. Power to relay from headlight power to trigger relay to send power to the lights
  2. AUX 1 is inline to toggle on off "ground" so that power cannot pass unless switch is on.
  3. If Headlights are ON and AUX 1 is ON, then lights should be on.
  4. If either condition is OFF, lights are off.
I think that is how it would go. Gonna do some googling so I can figure this out. I'll let you know what I find.
