Bilstein 6112/5160 Travel Question

All the parts came in and I started working on the truck yesterday. Clip in position 4 plus a single shim on top for another 1/2" to give me 1" of lift.
Got the first side together and noticed that at full drop, left steering lock, the CV boot touches the shock body.

I guess the shim was just too much. Now I get to pull it apart and move the clip to #5 and have a stiffer ride.

that sucks but at least you identified the problem now instead of later. what is the actual measured thickness of your spacer? measuring with a caliper would be best…

asking because the Supreme spacer measures .260” for reference. That should produce 3/8” of lift considering the motion ratio. I think most guys are using the MotoFab spacer, I’m not sure how thick it is - but if the Supreme is less, that may be all the clearance you need.

Also, I wonder how the alignment would affect this issue?

The motofab measurement is somewhere on the forum but I can’t find it atm. I think it was .375” and right at 0.5” at the wheel with 6112s. My truck at full droop had good clearance. They’ve been bounced around for a while now and no marks so far.

Thanks for the quick replies. I used the motofab spacer. Measures .375 as deepblack said.
I started thinking, the interference is so small and there has to be SOME slop between the holes and bolts in the T bar.
So I loosened the nuts and rigged up a little ratchet strap come-along to pull the bottom mounts forward away from the boot. Gave the bar a couple good smacks with a hammer to make sure I took up all the wiggle room and torqued the nuts down. It picked me up about a half millimeter of space.
So now on the driver side I can just slip a piece of paper between the boot and shock.
Passenger side is a little tighter but I'm going to let it ride. It might actually brush the shock ‐‐ at full droop, full steering lock, and in 4wd.
I have my alignment cams set center for now. Hopefully getting the truck lined up doesn't make any of the clearances worse.

I've been preparing to do this job for a while after noticing interferance with other kits. Could you post a pic of what your alignment cam settings look like, both front & back, left & right? That affects clearance among other things. Are you running the OEM upper control arms?

Well I literally just put the wheels back on so there's not much value in pics of my cams, but I'll definitely send you some after the alignment. They are all dead center right now.
I did stick with oem ucas. I can see aftermarket arms creating a little more clearance, due to the added caster rocking the hubs backward and away from the shocks.
I rolled the truck up and down the driveway to settle it out, but I'm still measuring 1-3/4 of lift. Lot more than I wanted.
