Catalytic Convertor protection

I took the W716831S439 bolts back to the Ford dealership and they reordered W500634S439 bolts instead and they were the right size 10mm bolts for the skid to mount to the frame. I'm not sure what the mixup is on the parts #s but I'm all fixed up now and the skid plate looks like it should have come from the factory now.

I live in the snow belt, So I sprayed mine with bed liner so it won't rust out.

Are you worried about heat from the cats near the bed liner spray? I saw the raptor spray can is safe up to 185 degrees. I am wondering if that is enough under there?

I have a can of Rust Oleum bed liner spray that I was getting ready to spray on my new skid plate. But now you have me wondering the same thing about the heat. I couldn't find any heat ratings for it.

FWIW, I sprayed mine with the Rust-Oleum bed liner linked below before bolting it up. That was last summer. No issues so far.

@Libido77 that makes me better as I already sprayed the raptor liner on it before thinking about the heat hitting it, haha. Did you spray the whole thing...as in the side that faces the underbody and the side that faces the road?

I could be wrong but that fiberboard diaper thing doesn't look like it could handle heat. Then again it could have some sort of flame retardant...I dunno, probably overthinking it.

When I ordered the part from Ford it came all scratched up and I was afraid it would rust, since I live in a snow state with lots of salt on the roads.

Looks great. I got the same raptor skid. I used the raptor liner 1k spray on bed liner. Mine came with scratches as well. I don't live in a snow state but I'm pretty sure the exposed metal may have rusted had I not sealed it. Glad to hear you've had no issues with the heat from the cats. That was my biggest worry.

For anyone interested. I have just ordered through FordParts.com with delivery to my local Dealer. I'll be installing on a 2023 F150 XLT. Seems like good pricing from my short research and the correct parts from my reading of this thread which has been very useful (I think).
