Catalytic Convertor protection

I installed it today and have two tips. Don't over-torque. I snapped one of the nut clip things. Second check under your truck before you start. Ford did not install the fiberboard cover so I had no existing clips or bolts, I had to go to a Ford dealership and buy two more. Other than everything going wrong as usual, it went great :).

Good ole Murphy 😁

Hello again my Tremor counterparts. I come with a new question. Has anyone thought about adding protection for their Catalytic Convertor? I was just under the truck and it's a thieves delight with ease of access.

My city has an ongoing rash of cat thefts and that's the last thing I want to deal with.

I wanted your opinions. I was looking at something like this :

Raptor metal skid plate?

Mine is missing the cardboard too. Can you confirm exactly how many bolts / clips I’ll need then?

I have the same issue- I went to install my plate today and I don't have the factory fiberboard thing. How many more bolts and holders do I need? I bought 4 of each.

I had to read the article to make sure it was correct but two brothers were charged Friday with raking in 170 million from stolen catalytic converters.

"brothers and a co-conspirator were arrested and charged in an 81-count indictment on Friday alleging they engaged in a black-market catalytic converter trafficking operation that at one point netted the brothers $170 million from a single refinery."

Okay I just installed mine and it was missing the fiber-board cover. I used 4 bolts and flag nut things to attach the skid to the frame. Then there are 2 blank holes at the front, which are easily accessible, so I used 2 bolts and nuts I had laying around in the garage. Then the oil cover takes 3 flag nuts and 3 bolts.

Just ordered. Great find and mod. For SoCal guys, raceway ford was the cheapest online. $107 right now.

I live in the snow belt, So I sprayed mine with bed liner so it won't rust out.

So, the dealer said that there are 3 variations to this part number and wanted a vin number. I call BS, but what are your thoughts? I told him just order the part number I requested. HL3Z-7222-E.

I got told it doesn’t match my vin from my dealer and they said no refund. I got mine yesterday. Also didn’t have the fibre board there. But ordered ;

Skid plate : HL3Z-7222-E

Oil drain plate : HL3Z-7222-F

Lower hinge bolts : W716831-S439 x4

Under cover u nut: W719490-S439 x4

Dampener u nut: W520813-S439 x3

Front shield bolt : W500623-S439 x3

I had to put zip ties on the front where it tied into the other skid plate. Does any one know part number for the proper hardware for here? Thanks

You need 5x of:
Dampener u nut: W520813-S439
Front shield bolt : W500623-S439

I used the hardware I ordered to mount the front of the main plate. I had to order a couple more of each to mount the the oil change cover.

Bolted up just fine.

Also in a ultra high theft area. Ordered raptor plate and hardware yesterday. Picking it up tomorrow. Installing by dinner time! Thanks y'all for researching the part numbers.

I literally just put mine on, and my neighbor got his Tacoma hit the next night!! 3am in the morning.

Sucks. After my other vehicle got hit... we moved out of that city. And got a garage. Unfortunately the new garage doesn't fit the new truck. Hopefully the plate makes anyone considering it just try a easier target.

Done. 25 minute job. Mine had the cardboard splash guard. Only needed 2 additional bolts and clips! Peace of mind well worth it. Do it if you live anywhere even near a city!
