5.0 owners.... this needs to be cut off to allow the oil to drain as the plug is more to the center vs the right side of EB engines.

Thank you for spearheading this on the 5.0. Very helpful.

I‘ll be ordering this piece on Friday and wont be too far behind you on the install.

Before I forget, is there a factory metal version of the gas tank skid plate that can also be adapted for the F-150 Tremor ?

Daniel

No problem... no factory fuel tank skid plate that I'm aware of, but ill be looking into that next.

Just put the big plate and small plate on. My '23 Tremor 5.0 had all the holes in the frame so I used all 4 clips. The oil drain position will be problematic. I generally do my own oil changes so I'll probably leave it on. I was debating getting a 4" hole saw and just drilling it all out of both the big and small covers. That way you don't have to take anything off and it looks fairly clean.
Anyone running an oil drain valve instead of the bolt? That would also make things even cleaner.

This is my solution... cut to the make the hole bigger as the 5.0 drain plug is more to the center.

I went with these guys (Talons Garage), all aluminum made in USA. High quality, not sure if this is lighter than the OEM Raptor style metal plate. Did I say Made in USA? I had a question for them on the install and they answered over the weekend!

I debated doing that but I think I'm gonna use a fumoto valve with a 90-degree fitting and won't have to mess with it. We'll see.

I just installed the Raptor Cat cover yesterday. I think it's pretty decent and heavy for the money.

For those that have bought the Raptor cat cover did you buy the oil change cover for additional protection?
I read some other posts where they purchased the full skip plate package that if you get oil changed by a service center that they may charge additional labor for removing skid plates in that posts they said it was an extra$55 or so in labor to move the skid plate and put back on. Do you think a hop would charge extra to remove this small 3 bolt oil cover?

I didn't get the small 3 bolt cover, they may charge you whatever they want at the stealer ship!! I just changed my oil for the first time myself with 3500 miles on it. Then the Plate came in the next day and I installed it. I have 3 oil changes coming in points to use and I didn't even bother tying to schedule service.

The Aluminum Talons Plate with reinforced ribs is 40 lbs per their website.

I'm not gonna get it either, thanks!

Just a note to anyone considering the Raptor Skid: If your goal is primarily cat protection you are good with the parts listed above. In addition you will have significantly better underbody protection since the factory shield is essentially fiberboard.

For max underbody protection: There is also a oil drain access panel that covers the area circled below that can be added. I currently have what I believe is the correct part number on order, but I am waiting until I have it on hand to confirm. The previous access cover I ordered was too small as Ford has made an update to the skid plate (Ford parts numbering system is a pain). Realistically this adds very little additional protection, but adds ~$60 in cost between the plate and hardware.

I will add those parts once I confirm fitment, but honestly I could easily see just not buying those since the main skid covers the critical areas. Just a FYI for those considering this install.

Great share, I just ordered mine.

Shipping from Tasca was coming up at $450 for any NC zip I tried, Raleigh/ Durham/ Chapel hill, crazy.
The ford link is charging $70 for shipping.
Does anyone now if you order from dealer if shipping is Free or much less?
What did you pay for shipping for this Raptor cat cover and bolts?

I paid $330 total at my dealer and I live in Canada so the price is higher than US.

Showing $404 shipping to GA from Tasca. Going to go to the dealership

I was getting $404 shipped to GA from Tasca. Went through a local dealership's website, and ford parts is having a special $20 off (new accounts) and free shipping. Got both covers and all the nuts and bolts for $267 shipped to my house.

I just throw the part number into google and run down all the other parts house's links. Tasca is the most recognizable, but a ton of dealerships sell online, and likely one near you if not at least on the same coast. I think most expensive shipping I saw was $120 from MI to CA.

That being said, since retail on this plate is now down to $160, and Tasca et al are selling it for $108 or so, If your local dealer doesn't charge shipping ( I don't think most of them do, since they get restock shipments constantly) it might be just as easy.

Great thread, just ordered everything and now hoping it's all in stock and ships. Thank you to the guy's who put the part numbers and took the time to figure it out.
Happy Easter.

Great thread! Tasca wants $435 in shipping. Tried the Ford OEM website and my payment won't go through. Guess I need to visit the dealer.
