Dismal Fuel Economy

I’m at approx 6,500 miles and average 18.2/18.4 mpg. 70% hwy 30% city on 87octane. With the way I drive I’m satisfied with that.
I would definitely be satisfied, I'm right at 17.0 average with 7900 miles, but I do tow more and have about 50/50 split on highway and city. It also spends at least a couple hours a week in 4wheel drive off-road.

I've been doing mostly city driving with a few highway treks, but only like 700 miles on the truck so far. I'm driving in Eco mode and currently average 15.3 which is around what is was getting on my 2013 FX4.

Driving in normal, city and highway with traffic, ~17 with 93. 4500 miles on the truck.

I hate to even post this; I’m otherwise happy with my 2022 F150 Tremor.

After (only) 2 fuel-ups, my fuel economy numbers are extremely disappointing -12.4 City / 16.5 Hwy.

I contacted the dealer (Mac Haik, Georgetown, TX) and was told unless a check engine light is on, there’s nothing a diagnostic can find. Really?!

Anyone else getting these low economy numbers?

-Bill
I've been watching my fuel economy like hawk (due to the high tax/fuel cost state I live in) and I've been getting better mileage that you are reporting.
One thing I can say is that the first few fill-ups are not indicative of the overall fuel economy, so it should get better for you.
But mine is hovering around 17 combined.
I've been getting as high as 20 MPG (according to the in car MPG calculation) and when I'm tearing it up around the city its more like 15.
I took a 2 hour trip up to Leitner's factory the other day and I got a calculated 18.9 MPG on the trip.

Question: are you driving in "sport" and smoking the tires a lot? Or are you driving conservatively? When I'm driving over 70 MPH my gas mileage tanks.. but if I keep it around 65 its not bad.

Just did a ~700 mile trip, Dallas TX to Charlotte NC, with cruise set at 80 and averaged 16.6 with some light (all green trails) off-roading at Windrock. Running a 2.5” level and stock tires.

What'd you think about Windrock?

Windrock was rad! I stoped mainly for some Down hill mountain biking and it did not disappoint, steep raw and fast! After wards. Just took the green trail up to the top and goofed off for an hour or so. Really cool place! I definitely would love to go back with some more people and real rockslides instead of the running boards. It gets really rocky really fast!

I have a 2021 Ford F150 Tremor, barely 650 miles, averaging 14.9 mpg. However, I live on an island, and highway driving is 55mph. Still breaking the engine in, and I can see my estimated miles to empty change every time it goes up a .1. Whenever I move back to the mainland, it will be on real highway driving.

It's the rear end gear in theses trucks that hurt the fuel mileage.

6,500 miles on mine. Averaging between 17-18. Around 16 for short trips and stop and go, 19 or so on lengthy two lane trips. I run 91 octane and drive in normal mode. For what it’s worth I also use Schaefer’s 9000 5/30. This truck is new enough I’m not sure that it contributes any to my mileage but it definitely made a difference in my 15 with 195k.

I know this might seem crazy…. I think even I may be loosing it but…. My leveled Tremor on 35” tires was getting 16mpg average… wasn’t happy… I put a bed cover on and have done a full tank of driving and I swear to God… 20mpg average.

Interested if your MPG holds on there... I can't imagine a bed cover getting you that big of boost in MPG...lol

Maybe you got a good tank of gas! How many miles do you have on it? I average 15~16 MPG calculated so far with 2000 miles.

Using the on board calculator....

I got 19-20ish on a 55-65 mph highway trip.
I'm getting 9-10 in small town stop sign heaven. Ughhhhh

I haven't hit 200 miles yet so Im hoping that city gets a little better.

I don't understand the high mpg. I get about 13 and pulling a trailer, any trailer, I get about 9.5. I live at 5000ft elevation. Anything north of 15 would be amazing.

I have made several comparison highway tests of about 75 miles. The results of my tests show that I actually get better MPG values in "normal" versus "eco" mode. This seems contrary to what one would expect. The difference is 16.5 MPG in eco versus 19.1 MPG in the normal mode. I have about 2,500 miles on the truck at this time. The MPG values have increased slightly since first purchase.

Does anyone have the Torsen Differential? What MPGs are we seeing compared to those with 3.73 gears? Or does this not effect the fuel economy?
