Dismal Fuel Economy

I believe you see “4.10” when referencing the Torsen diff in some of Ford’s documentation. I’ve been told this is actually refers to a 4:1 ratio of some sort within the Torsen. How’s that for a technical explanation!

It refers to the front torsen diff originally being 4.10 gear ratio when it was raptor only. Ford forgot to change the 4.10 wording when they made it available for the Tremor, it is now a 3.73 with the Tremor.

We’ll I sort of had it right🤪

I went from 14.9mpg to 16.1 in a week driving about an 18mile commute going 55-60mph. It's learning. It only has 1100 miles in. I decided to try out eco mode. I noticed that driving on normal, sitting idle, sucks gas. While in eco mode, not so much. On my 3 mile commute to work, I waste 10mpgs. I even punched it once, (someone tried to get in front of me), but it still goes, but not the same as in normal. The engine is fairly new. I have a cheap tonneau cover that helps with the drag. I don't think I will see real high numbers until I leave the island. With my 2019 F150 XLT, gas lasted three weeks (36 Gal tank), and I let it go to 1/4 tank before filling up. With gas prices the way they are, I see it last two weeks and fill up at the half. The last time I tried at a 1/4 tank, the pump went to $100 and stopped. I was upset because it wasn't all the way full. I am trying to squeeze every mpg I can.

I averaged 18.6 on the last 700 mile leg of my trip with cruise control set at 80. 8k on the odo. She’s getting better

Okay… Finally, I’m seeing better fuel economy. Funny thing though, my MPGs seem to increase with my wife in the right-hand seat! 😆
This past weekend I got near 19.2 mpg driving from NW of Austin to (beyond) Corpus Christi, with moderate traffic for the first half of the trip. (I fueled back up to full not long after arriving in Aransas Pass to calculate fuel economy.)

It looks like my lead foot is mostly to blame for less impressive numbers… Imagine that!
3500 miles over all 21.1. High way trip 24.5

I hate to even post this; I’m otherwise happy with my 2022 F150 Tremor.

After (only) 2 fuel-ups, my fuel economy numbers are extremely disappointing -12.4 City / 16.5 Hwy.

I contacted the dealer (Mac Haik, Georgetown, TX) and was told unless a check engine light is on, there’s nothing a diagnostic can find. Really?!

Anyone else getting these low economy numbers?

-Bill
My Exporer Sport with the 3.5 didn't get it's best mileage until 18-20k miles actually. With the 6 speed we're only getting 18-20mpg but it does get 14-16 towing my UTV and ATV on a 20ft trailer so I'm happy with that. Anyways as others said I'd giver some time!

Just averaged 19mpg Cincy to Smokies and back (20.0 coming home) after 2.0 Autospring level. Got 19.1mpg in August pre-level so not much difference.

I’ve got almost 10,000 miles on mine and I’m at 14. Seven MPG mostly city driving. I will admit that there is some idle time in there during lunch breaks for work.

also a difference in the winter/summer fuel along with the octane level of fuel. Your MPG truly is only updated every 500 miles, the ECU is constantly learning. For example my 20' Lariat I can average 24 mpg on highway @73mph, 19 in the city and it drops if I just idles for 1/2 hour or so.

II can't get close to this.....I use 93 octane.....

I'll chime in just for reference. I got 20.1 mpg on my first tank and 19.3 on my second tank.

Then I did the leveling kit and wheels/tires. My economy immediately went to crap - the wheels are heavier than stock as are the 315/70/17 BFGs. I'm closer to 16.5 mpg now, but that's still a little better than I typically got in my Raptors, so I can't really complain.

18.4 regular gas average with city and highway at 75 mph 40 psi on the tires. 2500 miles so far.

I've got a long way to go. Mine is slowly climbing and is now at 11.8 all city driving. I've only driven 146 miles.

I’m getting 17ish on mixed highway and country roads…. My lariat with same engine, skinny factory tires 19ish for comparison…. I’m guessing the lack of air dam, bigger tires than lariat, 2.0 leveling kit, and basic less aerodynamics on tremor…..I did just add a tonneau cover last Friday and am wondering if that may increase mpg….. any thoughts on that??? I’m 58 also and I’m loving the overall tremor truck vs grandpa lariat with chrome
Havent watched yet but saw this while cruising the ole youtubes.

Update; 11,342 miles overall 21.7.

Last trip from Tampa to just North of Miami on the way down I was able to 24.2 mpg drafting big trucks and running 65-70mph.With a little city driving in south Florida and returning home ,over all trip was 23.2.
Driving locally (city) it's been 17-18 but still overall 21.7.
I am trying to get best mileage possible, with a heavy foot, I could never get these number. Also going in the shop for leveling kit next week. will make a few trips and post my updated numbers.

7 MPG in the city?? are you towing something or ? I'm really surprised by this. I get around 14.5 in the city with 1500 miles my 3.5 EB.

I’ve got almost 8k on my 22 402a and I’m averaging 16.

I’m approaching 4K miles. ‘23 402a 3.5. I’m at 16.3 mph, mostly rural roads. Highways on the weekends.
