Dismal Fuel Economy

Got 13 mpg with my 5.0 of mixed driving. Went to 15ish with the 87 switch. Waiting to see what the 93 gas will do but man I don't want to do the fill up.

Filled up my truck a week ago for a camping trip of 93 and was $140. Thanks Joe.

19.2 mpg hwy over 700 miles. not bad. Going around 70-75 most of the time.
Generally around 16.5 around for daily commute and around town.

Consistent 18.5 average, driving on flat FL roads averaging probably 65 mph in normal (not sport or eco) mode. Turnpike driving is always 75+. Not trying to baby the throttle but not leadfooting it either. My 2012 FX4 got 18.9 average. 7000 miles so far has been pretty consistent. Also added the ARE shell at about 4000 and it did not seem to make any difference. Oh and regular pump gas with 10% ethanol. I can get 90 octane no-ethanol boat gas, maybe I will try a tank and see if it makes any real difference.

Curious how many of these reports are hand calculating mileage vs listing the lieometer in the truck (mine was off a fair amount).

I've tracked mine via fuelio app for 14k miles now and am getting a combined 16.02 MPG.

I've since adjusted my fuel bias in engineering mode and now my truck is 99.99% accurate to hand tracking over the past 2k+ miles.

Currently all stock ... Daily drive of about 32 miles around town (30-50MPH) ... Not a lot of real highway driving unless running to Dallas or San Marcos (usually around 75 - 80 MPH).

It might make a little difference but it will probably take a couple of tanks to really show it.

I went from 14.9mpg to 16.1 in a week driving about an 18mile commute going 55-60mph. It's learning. It only has 1100 miles in. I decided to try out eco mode. I noticed that driving on normal, sitting idle, sucks gas. While in eco mode, not so much. On my 3 mile commute to work, I waste 10mpgs. I even punched it once, (someone tried to get in front of me), but it still goes, but not the same as in normal. The engine is fairly new. I have a cheap tonneau cover that helps with the drag. I don't think I will see real high numbers until I leave the island. With my 2019 F150 XLT, gas lasted three weeks (36 Gal tank), and I let it go to 1/4 tank before filling up. With gas prices the way they are, I see it last two weeks and fill up at the half. The last time I tried at a 1/4 tank, the pump went to $100 and stopped. I was upset because it wasn't all the way full. I am trying to squeeze every mpg I can.
inflating the tires up from 36 psig to 38 or 39psig should help you a little, less footprint on the ground. Also the truck likes to coast with the 10 speed, taking your foot off the gas the last few hundred yards helps as well.

That is my thought as well - a lie-ometer - I love it. I have set up a spreadsheet to calculate mileage - I don't even use the on-board calculator, as it is WAY off; and that is a universal truth, same thing goes for all of our cars - Expedition, Escape, Mustang, and F150. If anyone thinks that on-board calculator is reliable, I can confidently say that it is not.

For what it's worth, my 2023 Tremor with 3.5L Ecoboost gets horrible mileage, and I drive it very conservatively. Best-EVER highway mileage was 17 MPG. Typical universal mileage is 12 to 14 MPG. Camper-pulling mileage is about 8 MPG...but as low as 6.9!!! I would never, ever, ever recommend this truck for towing anything. I like how it looks, but I think that I am going to go back to a Super Duty.

I drive almost entirely city and off road, just shy of 5K miles on it now, 14.4MPG average........FUCK!!!

I hate to even post this; I’m otherwise happy with my 2022 F150 Tremor.

After (only) 2 fuel-ups, my fuel economy numbers are extremely disappointing -12.4 City / 16.5 Hwy.

I contacted the dealer (Mac Haik, Georgetown, TX) and was told unless a check engine light is on, there’s nothing a diagnostic can find. Really?!

Anyone else getting these low economy numbers?

-Bill
Don't be impatient - it's new and need to break in. My previous F150's got their best gas mileage after 20k

Dang man, I get 17 all day long, and that's with 35's and mixed city/highway. Agree the towing mileage is rough but I only tow heavy a half dozen times a year so I appreciate the added power over the 5.0.

Just got back from an 1100 mile road trip from FL to NC and back. Average for the trip is 19.0 driving 77-80 most of the time on the freeway, with a few days of slower driving in the Smokey Mountains. Had about 500 lbs of firewood and camping gear in back on the way there. This truck continues to surprise me.

Just another data point.

Las Vegas -> Seattle (1100mi/
20.8. Eco whole way. Cruise at 75 whole way (sometimes less depending on speed limit, I drive like granny)

Daily in WA mountains + city
16.6. mostly normal mode, sometimes eco, sometimes sport!

Y'all gotta go easy on the skinny pedal. Also past 70mph the mpg drops off dramatically due to wind resistance. 92oct or better fuel always.

Lastly, your mpg is WRONG if you have bigger tires. Your odometer is WRONG. Your speedo is WRONG also. That is, unless you've corrected for tire size with FORscan...

Flat Florida 75 mile round trip for work average 60 mph plus weekend freeway driving 75 mph. Steady 19.1 mpg with a shell on the back and about 600 lb between the shell and the stuff always carried in it. I don't stomp the gas but I don't try to baby it either to save gas. 15K miles so far.

Mine is at 13.9. I drive mostly in town and have about 900 miles on it.

Best MPG I’ve gotten in a single tank. This is 75% highway, 25% city driving.

I toggle onto eco mode when I get on the highway and switch back to normal in the city.

Also - this is with the 5.0!

I have a little over 5K miles on my '23 5.0 Tremor and I have kept "Trip B" unchanged from the day I picked it up. Showing right at 16.5 MPG overall average and I have occasionally seen 20MPG on the current MPG screen but that has been on longer non-Interstate trips where I stay in a speed range of 65-75 MPH. Get in the 80-85 MPH highway flow and it drops back in the 17-18 MPG range. I've also seen as low as 13.5MPG, with only around town driving.

Even stock wheels and tires?
