🏕️ F150 Tremor Camping Forum!

Despite my intentions of this truck for rustic wilderness adventuring, I spent a portion of a recent trip “roughing” it at full service campground. Great way to round out the last few busy weeks of things I’ve been doing.

Nice. 😎

Found a great camping spot on Beaver Lake in Arkansas for fall break. My son caught his personal best small mouth as well.

I've been wanting to explore that area, thanks for posting the pics! Looks awesome!

Since you guys seemed to like the previous photos, here’s a few more.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to celebrate the culture in America of cleaning-up the campsites. As a Canadian, I’m truly disappointed in my fellow countrymen who destroy what few public land camping opportunities we have. Everywhere I went was clean and I always saw people picking-up small pieces of litter. The first campsite I stayed at when I got back to Canada I could have filled my pick-up box with the amount of trash I found.

Just got back from four days at Redwood RV Park near Broken Bow, OK. The park is small and quiet with lots of room between trailers. We had a site overlooking the pond, and my boys had fun pulling a few bass and crappie out of it.

Broken Bow is definitely a cool spot in Oklahoma. There's nothing else like it in the state. Similar to some spots I have been to around Red River, NM (without the towering Rocky Mountains of course). Very clear lake by Oklahoma standards as well.

Totally agree! We’ve been there four times now, and it never disappoints. The restaurants in Hochatown are great, the hiking trails around the lake are beautiful, and it’s always a fun trip. It's definitely worth the drive up from Austin.

Spent last week camping around Browns Lake and Mount Antero in Colorado. Drove nearly to the top, hiked the rest of the way. Truck did very well, and even surprised a few of the side-by-side / Jeep owners.
Just went back and was looking at your profile @PetePuffin since I really like your photo from TOTM and voted for you in TOTY, stumbled across these.

Best Tremor pictures on the forum for sure, glad to see you working it too.

Any more trips planned? Hoping to get some better pictures this next year.

Since we are sharing 2025 travel pics, Had some fun with the set up this year. did a ton of camping but the highlites are Yellowstone - Headwaters and the PA Wilds and Adirondacks. Moab earlier this year. The gas milage stinks but it gets us from A to B. Happy New Year!

3.5 L eco boost. I get 6-7 mpg

6 to 7. Geeze. How much does your trailer weigh, what octane are you running, and what's your typical highway speed?

These are the exact questions I was going to ask.

This summer I drove from Alberta, Canada down to Moab, then over to Yosemite, then up to Whistler, B.C., then back home for a total of 6,000kms. I’ve always towed with 87 octane because gas is expensive in Canada and I honestly didn’t think it would make much of a difference. On that road trip I switched to 91 and I’ll fully raise my hand and say ‘I was wrong for running 87’ because I 100% got better fuel economy as well as performance. Over that entire trip with mixed octane, mountains, and +39˚C temps, I averaged 20L/100km (12MPG).

For context, I have the 3.5L EcoBoost as well, 6-speed transmission, and 3.55s (I plan to install 3.73s but wasn’t able to before that road trip). My trailer is 4,500lbs empty and it was approximately 5,250lbs given I had a full tank of water, full food load-out, and lots of outdoor equipment. I even had 300lbs of fuel and truck parts in the bed of the truck. Oh, and I also had bilateral exhaust manifold gasket failures (haha).

I switched to 93 or the highest octane available in the mountains. Over 9k miles I averaged 9.65 mpg towing an ~7600 lb 30 foot travel trailer. I did start running premium awhile before we left on that trip. Consistently getting 2-3 mpg more than 87 when not towing.

That doesn’t surprise me. I felt like my message/post was long enough already, but I’ll share this…

I previously towed the same trailer to / from Calgary-area, Alberta to Vancouver, B.C. two (2) times on 87, and both times I used 2.25 tanks. This summer while running 91 I used slightly about 1.5 tanks. I don’t know for sure because I accidentally spilled a bunch of gas on the ground, but yeah, about 1.5. I honestly couldn’t believe it.

I was thinking about switching octane for the next trip to see if gas milage improves. I have heard of this before but didn't think to do it last year. I would love to get a few more mpg when going from michigan to Colorado or Utah.
