What's new

Fozzy’s Build Thread

Decided I needed the rack to finish it out. It's also from UPTop Overland. Well made with a lot of mounting locations and slats.

The rack had 4 cutouts for scene lighting.

Added two more scene lights on the rear and four Rigid backup/work lights.

Installed a OVS 180 awning I had on another vehicle. Super good quality for China Knockoff. It sits super high to clear the cab and looks stupid but the shade is nice. Didn't want a 270 as they hit the bow of the boat or the enclosed trailer. This is a "DuneLander" boat tower and goer.

No Roof top tent. If I camp we use a Shift Pod. No climbing on and off the roof to sleep in a cramped space. Or huge MPG hit with a ton of noise. Tent was originally designed for the desert. I add the second Rhino Rack cross bar and through it on top of it and strap it down. That way I can still open and close the cover.

Added two SunPower 110w panels to the roof to charge the Bluetti that runs the fridge. Being the flexible panels I can still stack stuff on the rack if needed. Changed out the whip flag holder to an American Flag style just for fun. Lighted whip flag slides into the base and is held on by magnets. I will run a 4' or 1' whip. When we stay late on the lake I will through it in and light it up red. Then when I get the trailer in place change it to green and my wife will know to come to the dock and load up. It also helps her see the center of the truck and trailer. Use the big lights to clean the boat up while we have popsicles out of the freezer. Whip flags are also needed if we decide to drive though the dunes.

Added Anderson plugs to the solar panels. Ran the wires to the bed of the truck.

Mounted two Anderson plugs in the power port location. The red comes from the panels and the grey comes from the truck battery. I can use a MPPT charger and plug it into the solar panel plug for power and plug the charger end into the grey plugs and charge the truck battery with the panels if needed. A dedicated panel on the hood is coming. But this is an option. I made a 10' long extension cable for the solar plug. I use it to plug into the Bluetti to charge it. And if the battery is low on my SxS I can charge it with the extension and MPPT charger. Or even share the solar with other people that need some extra juice. I also added a USB PD port to charge the phones and drones.

Great looking truck!

I am looking at the BDS lift as well but I thought that the OEM front skid plate couldn't be mounted again with the BDS lift as the new BDS brackets would interfere, but obviously yours is installed. Are you able to get a few pics of how the front OEM skid plate mounts to the truck frame, or if it needed to be modified? Thanks.

I DO NOT have the Tremor skid plate installed. BDS was making a custom skid for their kits I was in line for. But they have since decided not to mass produce it. A guy on the Gen14 forum has a BDS kit and Tremor skid on his regular F-150. You have to cut the skid plate to clear the drop brackets.
