What's new

Fozzy’s Build Thread

How do you like it so far? Ordered mine before I realized you actually have to cut apart the stock fob (my dad's 15 f150 you took the while thing apart just to change the battery, cutting wouldn't have been necessary). Figured worst case scenario it could be my spare, but am a little hesitant to destroy a fob on my new truck.
So far so good. It's bigger than the factory fob, but feels good in my pocket. I was working in the yard the past few days with it in my pocket and no false alarms. I usually have to take the stock key out of my pocket because I know the panic alarm will be going off. Biggest problem is I can't find my truck key. I look around and still associate it with the stock fob.

Finally got all the parts for my steps in.
I love the look of the factory side steps and that they add protection from door dings. With the lift the top of the step is almost 24" from the ground.

Then another 9" to the floor of the truck.

These are the PowerStep XL. Xtra Long, they add the side step look that gives them another 3" of drop. Kinda gives it the stock step look. But the side bar dose not stick out and offer any kind of protection.

First step in is 15.5", much nicer for the wife and I'm not complaining either.

Step to truck is about 18.5".

The steps have two lights on each side that shine down on the steps. They can hold 600 lbs. and are lighting fast compared to my old Expy and Platinum factory steps. My wife and kid love them and it looks ok, I loved the factory steps. My biggest complaint about them is the side bare is powder coated a rough sand paper like finish. It rubs your skin, pants, boots pretty good if you touch up against them. Just like you rubbed sand paper on your legs. Then what's left stays in the pours and looks dirty until you spray them off. I will probably take the badge off the back of the steps. Looks out of place to me. Other than that they are highly recommend for the lifted life. Guys running only a level can get the regular steps that hide under the cab.

Finally to the cheap mods. I ordered the Rydonair 7" antenna two months ago. 4-1/2 stars with over 8K reviews. Amazon is saying it is lost and I was browsing the Builtright page and accidentally made an order.

Question for you guys, both the factory and stubby just screw on and off by hand. Do you guy loctite it on so no one steals it? I know its only $30.00 but seems too easy to take.

I didn't loctite mine. Can't imagine someone stealing an antenna. Though if i just had loctite on hand, now that you say it, i guess I would because why not.

I also had the rydonair and then ordeted the builtright one

No regrets, the rydonair was fine but builright made in America, love their other products, and it's half the length with perfect reception. Love it.

I used blue loctite i believe.

I don't imagine anyone wanting shot over an antenna so I wouldn't bother with the loctite myself. But then again I also don't live in a major city, that's by design, because I would constantly be questioned by the police, I don't play well with others.

How is the reception with the new antenna do you notice a difference over the factory. Have been wanting to get a short antenna but want at least decent performance

To be honest with you, I never use the radio. CarPlay or xm. I put the stock one behind the rear seat in case I really needed good reception.

Exactly what I did. I literally never use the radio. My stock one is in the underneath storage just in case.

I normally listen to satellite as well but still do listen to the local radio. That is a good idea about putting the old one behind the seat just in case. Looks like I will give it a go

I have never had a problem yet.

Built Right large bag fits good on the Ruff Tuff seat storage. Not sure if I will leave it there, more up to my kid as this is his area to store all his junk. Thinking I need some super strong magnets to suck all this closer to the seat.

The OCD Plug stuff arrived, another cheap mod off the books.

Wheel guide form their site.
  • Tire & Wheel Combinations
  • 35x12.50 w/18x9 or 20x9 and 4.5-5" back spacing
  • 37x12.50 w/20x9 and 5.5.-5.75" back spacing
  • 35 x 12.50 w/20x9 and 4.5-5.75" back spacing
  • *Trimming may be required*
I have a 22x10 -25 offset or 4.52 back spacing and 37x13.50x22 Toyo MT's. Not my ideal set up but what I could get without a long wait. I may change it up, mainly to a 20" wheel with a little more offset.
Yes, I have Bluecruise and 360 cameras. Bluecruise works just fine. All the suspension ride height indicators are not altered by the lift. But I do need to get the cameras recalibrated. I was going to wait until I took it in for the first service at 2500 miles and do it and the recalls. One thing I have noticed on the Tremor over the regular F-150 is the brake lines come down the center of the truck instead of the drivers side. BDS has a bracket to lower these lines a little. Once my drop hitch shows up I need to try and jack it up to see if the lines bind. Both the BDS and Air Lift instruction show the lines on the drivers side, not the case on the Tremor.
Any word from ford on if they will conti ue to honor the warranty after you did your lift?

I am not sure what they would deny me on. maybe if my steering rack goes bad from the big tires. I have never had a problem in the past. Remember they have to prove the aftermarket part caused the failure. BDS has the best warranty in the business and are the only FMVSS-126 compliant company around. Matter of fact, this truck and my lifted Expy draw the entire dealership out to the parking lot every time I go in. They love it.

Makes sense i guess. Biggest concern would be the fact BDS says they don't cover Tremors on the site.

Seeing it with a 6in lift, what are the odds the 4in kit would be able to fit 37s with some trimming?

It's really about the wheel offset. If I had the recommended wheel offset I would have minimal trimming, But with my wide tires and negative offset there is a lot of trimming. Crash bars would have to go for sure and trimming on a 4" even with a positive offset wheel. I am going to order the Fabtech rear tapered crash bars to see if they will fit with my set up so I at least of one set. Then build a small tube bumper with skid in the front to tie everything back together.

I had no idea that you could get aftermarket crash bars...

Going to go ahead and order these since I've already cut mine off lol. Wondering what the quality of their shocks is. Just sent them an e-mail to see if they need a 22 Tremor to test on.
