GMC AT4X vs Tremor? Trade In?!

So I received an email from GMC today that the Sierra AT4X that I reserved Oct 2021 is going into production and I should take delivery in 8-12 weeks

I bought my loaded Tremor a couple months ago and I’m loving it, but there are def some pros/cons to consider between the two trucks and wanted to get the Tremor forums thoughts on keeping it vs trading in?

AT4X: Pros vs Tremor
- 6.2L V8 14/18 MPG
- better suspension DSSV Multimatic shocks
- Front and Rear Lockers
- heads up display and 13.4” screen
- full grain leather seats with 16 way massage
- 420 HP vs 400 HP

AT4X: Cons vs Tremor
- 32” Tires
- single sunroof vs dual pane
- 460 lbs torque vs 500 lbs
- voice over tech better in Ford than my 2020 AT4
- 9000 lb vs 10,900 towing, though I don’t tow anything nearly that heavy. GMC lower due to suspension more for off-road.

I’m sure there are others I’m forgetting, but these are a few main ones to consider. As for overall exterior and interior looks, my personal opinion leans towards the AT4X as I have owned more GM in the past, though I do think my Tremor is pretty bad ass looking. Especially on 35s!

Love to hear yalls thoughts as I will need to decide when it gets here. Thanks!

we can all agree its a great time to be truck shopping The GM product that caught my eye is the ZR2. This slowdown in manufacturing has an upside. More competition if they can ever get manufacturing again. The Front locker on the ZR2 and maybe a 3.0 diesel next year is a big game changer. Even ram doesn't have a diesel option in the Power wagon. This video has me thinking.

I almost waited for the zr2, when I was signing papers I almost regretted not waiting....but at the end of the day I HATE the new Chevy styling. As little as that really matters it would drive me crazy everyday even with a diesel option. I'm also so freaking sick of red and black on all the "cool" trucks. It might not have the best possible options for everything, but it is certainly more capable than I, and I'd wager many of us, will ever need lol. Even if thats not the case and you need/want more, you have to build it regardless. Raptors even get overhauled.

I have to get behind the wheel of a ZR2 to see if I like the view over the bulge in the hood and get a feel for the seats. I have a 2015 GM product and its been very reliable. The only thing is the feel of the seats. too stiff. My dream is still a code orange Raptor but you know what they say about dreams. Its nice to dream. The range with the Raptor/ Tremor (36 gallon fuel tank) is nice. The seats in the Tremor with the orange is real nice and comfortable for long drives. I hate that I would have to do a 2.5 lift on the Tremor. I really wish at the end of the day ford would just sell me a Code Orange 35 Raptor at sticker LOL

What do the new interiors look like? That’s always been the downfall of GMC/Chevy in recent history imo.
Interior huge upgrade from before and seats 10x better than previous generation. Here’s a video I found but can take some pics if you want.

I respect your opinions but think a lot has to be proven once reviewed in real world.

My feedback regarding the Pro’s over the Tremor.

AT4X: Pros vs Tremor
- 6.2L V8 14/18 MPG….. real world mpg yet to be determined
- better suspension DSSV Multimatic shocks…… I don’t know enough so will agree.
- Front and Rear Lockers……. Tremor has them as well as an option, if it’s standard ok slight pro if you wanted it, con if you paying for feature you don’t want.
- heads up display and 13.4” screen- HUD agree, on the merit of larger screen itself I don’t agree, it has to look in place and function just as well, I think it’s still to be determined in real world.
- full grain leather seats with 16 way massage………pro for sure 👍
- 420 HP vs 400 HP…… slight hp advantage, vs larger torque disadvantage, I’d personally prefer Tremor ratings.

It all comes down to personal preference, get what you like better.
Hey Bad MT - first two fill ups and 15.6 and 15.7 MPG, so as adverted initially. that’s also with larger than stock tires.

The screen is MUCH better than RAM in my opinion as there are still hard dials/switches for 90% of the controls, so much more of a display than control module. The GMC is also fully integrated into the dash vs the ZR2 kinda pops up a little.

Again, I 100% loved the Tremor and it’s an awesome truck no doubt, but the GMC styling is my preference.

And the stock suspension with the DSSV is hands down smoother and more capable than the Tremor.

I will say the torque off the line actually feels better in the Tremor with the ExoBoost than the 6.2 V8, but hard to replace the growl of a V8

Hey James Dean, 100% agree that if I could get a Blacked out Raptor with 37 package anywhere near sticker price I would part with the AT4X in a heartbeat!! 😀

I’m in the Austin, TX area and if you can even find one they want $20k+ over. Not ready to drop $100k!!

How much was the atx4 you got? Big reason I got the tremor was 3% under invoice with Granger. Wasn't going to get anything close to it for the 65k i payed for a fully loaded tremor.

Sticker $79k and purchased for $77k since repeat buyer from a local dealer. To my knowledge most the AT4X delivered were ordered units, but wouldn’t be surprised if a dealer marked up $5-10k if they got an inventory unit.

When dealer had my truck on the lot 2 days waiting for the tint and bed cover installed they said 3-4 guys saw it driving by and came in ready to buy it, so I think like all inventory shortages are driving up demand and pricing is still crazy!

All I care about, which one is faster?

Well Google search says estimated:
Tremor = 5.3 secs
AT4X = 5.5 secs

Dang!! 🤦‍♂️😀
Yeah I’ve seen 5.3 for the tremor. Seems too fast. But I don’t have mine yet.

Here its 20,000 over on a Raptor 35 and 30,000 over on the 37's.

I looked at the ZR2's. Almost made the switch since I had been waiting on my build since October 2021. And of course the ZR2's are hitting the lots and just made me mad at Ford. But 8,900, lbs towing? WTF. At those numbers I would just get a Raptor or TRX.

Luckily I don't have to tow anything. Today I stopped up the street at my local Ford dealer. They Just got a White Raptor in. 79,000 sticker and only a 15,000 market adjustment for a total of 94,000. No bed liner or cover. Even if it was a code Orange i would still pass. My 2013 FX4 looks like a toy parked along side that Raptor.

That’s the big one that would keep me away.

Def agree the Raptor and TRX are superior vs a ZR2. But that’s comparing a $70k fully loaded ZR2 vs trying to even find a dealer to sell you a Raptor or TRX for $90-100k+.

Granger was selling the TRX pretty affordably, $9K off MSRP iirc.

I never really liked the TRX though, and next to no one sells the raptor at MSRP even. $65k for the Tremor was a steal, no other deals like that on a ZR2 - any competitor truck would have to absolutely destroy the competition for me to pay 15k more for it - the GMC is really nice, but it's not 80k vs 65k for more or less the same thing nice, same applies to ZR2 and others.

Thats the beauty about guys and their trucks, you get to drive the one you want if available.

After owning both trucks and test driving the ZR2, the Tremor is intend the best value and preferred over the $70k ZR2 IMO

Don’t knock the AT4X till you drive one, as the interior is much nicer than the Tremor in my opinion and the stock suspension is hands down superior. Worth $15k more? not sure yet as I need some miles on it. But That’s in the eye of the beholder….😀

Glad you are enjoying it, like you said that's what it's about.

I am jealous about the suspension, sucks waiting for proper aftermarket to come out to replace the tremor one. Should've come with an option to upgrade from factory at least.

Give us an update in a few thousand miles!
