Has anyone regretting installing an exhaust?

Most people don’t regret the Borla S-Type because it’s more of a refined upgrade than a loud exhaust. It gives a deeper tone and more presence under throttle, but it’s still pretty tame at cruising speeds, so it usually doesn’t become annoying on long highway drives or early Sunday mornings. The only time regret shows up is when someone expected a much louder or more aggressive sound. For a daily-driven truck, it’s generally considered a safe middle ground between stock quiet and an obnoxious exhaust.
6 months in and I’m still pretty happy ish with it. Some times wish it was oem silent, other times wish it was a little more loud. Can’t have it both ways I suppose.

Well without Raptor active exhaust I guess

3.5EB: Resonator delete + FlowFx = loud. Not unbearable, but it's certainly rowdy. I can't say it sounds particularly "good" either. Lots of loud farts. But it definitely picked up some HP. I'm on the Livernois tune and there was an instantaneous change in throttle response and power. Any kind of throttle input in low gears can easily result in the traction control kicking in (on 315/70/17s).

I'm sure I'll tire of it at some point and I'll put a resonator back on. But there is zero drone on the highway so I'm living with it for now.

Glad this thread popped up… currently deciding between Corsa Sport or Borla S type for my 5.0.

Want it to have a nice V8 presence but also don’t want it to be obnoxious at work, etc.

I prefer the Borla sound but know it’s a little louder than Corsa Sport. I feel the Borla may be too loud and Corsa not loud enough.

Any insights?

I went with the MBRP but only because the American options were unaffordable. Happy with it for sure but I wanted the full Borla system. I have the 5.0.

You can’t go wrong with either but the Corsa’s fitment can be hit or miss whereas the Borla is spot on with no fitment issues.

Also the Borla might be just a little louder on start up especially a cold start up but during regular driving, it’s definitely quieter than the Corsa.

In my opinion, these two systems are the best on the market for the 5.0 equipped F150’s.

Funny you say this... I'm fine with the startup being a little louder (South Florida is hot!) Haven't heard that the corsa is actually louder during daily driving... definitely sways me to the Borla S... I read there's no drone on Borla S type but some say there is a little bit...

I border on “old man” and Borla Type S will not in any way be “too loud”. Cold start is “hehe that sounds nice” but it calms down quickly.

So, since this is an exhaust discussion, I hope it's okay to post this here. When I re-bought my truck, the exhaust sounds different than it used to- deeper, more throaty... it sounds great but my question is whether there's a way to determine what brand it is? I don't see any clear branding on it.

send a picture of the setup underneath... we have some pretty savvy people on here that can figure it out

Excellent point!

Looks like I need to do some rust mitigation...

I can take other photos, if needed.

That’s definitely not OEM.
(y)Nope. Didn't sound OEM- sounded louder, maybe even better, but not too bad for this type of truck. I know very little about exhaust brands so couldn't really tell whose it was. I don't like that it drops a bit down in the rear before exiting the pipes but it's doable. Bigger problem is lack of rear tow hooks for the overall factory look.

I know they’re expensive but an upgrade to a full system like the Borla S Type or the Corsa Sport system would definitely be a better solution.

Even just the mid pipes gets you all the benefits and sound. If you really wanted different tips just get the muffler shop to cut off the OEM and put on whatever you like to look at. But 99.9 percent of the sound tone comes from the mid pipe resonator and muffler box.

Much as I'd love to have a Borla or Corsa, I don't plan to change anything any time soon. I was just kind of surprised when I bought the truck the second time that it sounded so much different and that they didn't just put an OEM system or just a basic exhaust system on it. Maybe one of these days I'll upgrade again!
