"Remote Features disabled to preserve battery" Ford Pass APP - Who all is seeing this??

Could be a module, that's what they replaced on mine when the pro power went out coincidentally the same time they pushed an update through on my truck. Which I personally believe caused the issue.
Fu@k… don’t say that. My truck is only 5 days old. I’m hoping it’s the stupid ford pass software…it’s on the grid and I’m not a fan.

It starts up and runs fine. I’m about to rip out the Bluetooth. Problem solved.

Just take it for a drive about 30-50 miles and then see what it says. That should clear it up.

As for the module, if it winds up being that it's not that big of a deal, about 5-6 days for them to get one in and about 1.5 hrs to replace and reprogram. Doesn't change anything. Honestly you have to think about it like this, they have been scrambling trying to fill orders and have had to go to places other than normal suppliers to get some of the chips and modules, so if one of them does go bad while it may seem it's bs on a new truck, it's not really in the grand scheme of things. The whole automotive industry and pretty much every industry is struggling to get the parts they need to keep running. Sometimes it means them getting parts they normally have dealt with. This can be a plus in finding a superior part or a negative in finding an inferior part, but either way they are doing their best to keep the ball rolling and filling their orders.

My Expy, Aviator and Tremor all do this when they sit and the battery voltage gets low. If I don't drive my Expy or Tremor at least once a week and my voltage is low I get the pop up. Expy was the worst because it had the ASS system. Short trips with a lot of starter work going on. I have noticed if you start it once a week and the voltage is still low I wont get the message. My truck sat all week and I got the message on Wednesday. Voltage was 12 even just like normal. Had to put it on the charger overnight to get it topped off. It will be good for several month now unless a cell is bad. Truck is only 5 months old, but the truck was sitting in a field for 5 months.

How many of you checking the terminal voltage waited 12 hours? has the truck been started in the last 12 hours? You get a surface charge and false reading if it just came of a dumb charger or alternator. That's why real battery testers induce a load then give you the voltage. You also need a AGM charger to get it topped off correctly or a long trip. AGM's are amazing, but finicky.

Auto Start Stop is one reason I won’t get an F150. I know it can be disabled but I avoided it. Seems like it would add more wear than necessary to the starter.

And I hate this default for easy entry. Always moves my seat around which is unnecessary. Turned it off.

You can have the auto start/stop removed, mine doesn't have it. As for the easy entry I love it it saves my knee caps when my wife borrows the truck.

You will also get this on the infotainment screen when the battery is super low. Instead of letting you listen to music or talk on the phone it shuts the system off. The greeting lighting won't come on either. Once fully charged it takes a few key cycles to clear out.

I used to see this often when I used to go looking at vehicles when they used to have the lots stocked. People seem to forget there's a small current draw constantly keeping electronics alive. If you let the vehicle sit long enough without running it, you'll have a dead battery.

Yeah, but why am I getting this when both batteries are at 12.6 volts?

Did you load test the batteries independently of each other? I haven’t had a PS Superduty in a while so not sure if they are using the AGM. My 17’ gasser still has a lead acid. If so still top them off, 12.6 is only 85% Charged for an AGM. Like I said before that could just be the surface charge voltage. Some of the trucks had bad grounds or loose grounds. Plus so much tech that never rests and can go bad. Harbor Freight has a good digital load tester for $70.00 and you can easily find the old school ones for under $30.00

Has anyone figured out what needs to be done? I keep getting this message multiple times a day. I daily drive my truck. I’m wondering if I need a new battery. My truck is a 2022 and has just under 13K miles on it. If I need a new battery what’s your recommendation I should get?
No I haven’t checked the voltage yet, that’s my plan tomorrow.
Thanks all!

It happened to me the other day just as I getting ready to leave. I only have 130 miles on mine, so likely the battery isn't fully charged.

It should still be under warranty, untill it's not covered by warranty I would save cash and let Ford eat it on replacement, after warranty I've always ran optima yellow tops and had great luck. There's varied opinions on that and really the sky is the limit, they range from about $300 to $1500 for some of the newer style batteries.

Wait did I just read that @Fozzy is suggesting someone buy a part from Harbor Freight? After all the trash talk. Lol sorry couldn't resist.

I’m slowly learning Tremor owners wont buy a $1,100.00 Snap-On load tester. Huge culture shock coming from the Raptor forums.

SIDE NOTE
FordBossMe did a video on the BMS of the new gen F-150’s. It looked like with the key on and the truck not running the load was around 18 amps. With the key off and the truck not running it was between 3-5 amps. That’s a lot of draw when parked. He also ran his battery dead with lots of short trips not letting it have time to charge. So trickle charging is off the plate. You would need at least 10 amps minimum to overcome the draw and charge the battery. Plus you need to have the ground on the back side of the BMS so the truck knows it being charged and will stop giving the warning on the screen and Ford Pass app.

It's all the lighting and connected services on these trucks, for example when I am helping my wife at her office I have to park at the other end of the parking lot or everytime I move it kicks the lights on, it's super sensitive, but I drive enough that I never have to worry about the battery draining. Dec. 8th was one year and I had 27, 186 miles. At least 7k of those were off-road. It's a fun truck, are there things that I wish were done differently, of course, but for the most part Ford hit a home run.

Oh and as for the raptor comment most of the owners around here wouldn't dream of taking their truck off-road, they use them as mall crawlers. I don't see many of them even needing the off-road equipment we buy. Another side note, the Snap-On factory is about 25 mins away from where I live, I have several of their tools. Never paid full price for them though.

Even when I don't have my FOB with me, the truck frequently makes clicking electronic noises from under the hood. I sometimes don't drive for an entire week, so I've gotten that message on every vehicle I've owned. I had a 16 Explorer and the battery went dead on that one. When I had my Edge ST, I had to charge the battery several times. Mine was on chip hold, so it sat for an extended period and I don't know if the dealer checked the battery during PDI or not, so a low battery is no surprise to me.

I got that message a lot until I moved my Dashcam from a constantly powered fuse to one that only was powered when the truck was running. (fuse 3 to fuse 2).

Is anyone else seeing this message? I literally get this message almost daily from my truck. It's getting really annoying. Starting to think my battery has a bad cell or something?

Example: Drove to work @ 7:30am, locked the truck. Got something out of the truck (did not move the truck) at 1:42pm, closed door. Sat back down at my desk and got this Ford Pass message through the APP on my phone @ 1:44pm.

It literally does the same if I get into my truck an hour or 2 after being home and close the door as well. I get the Ford App message saying that same thing.

Driving a 2020 Ford Fusion, see it every day. Frustrating as I know I have plenty of battery life.

I took my Tremor to the dealer yesterday for oil change. I told rhem about it and they tested the battery and came out as yellow. I looked at the battery and although the truck was built in April last year, the battery is 2 years old. It appears that Ford bought a lot of batteries and failed to build the number of trucks to use them all. The battery is covered under the 3year/ 36,000 mile warranty. They are responsible to recharge or replace if needed.
