Tremor Rear Shock Options

Eibachs we’re in stock and $12 less monies. Big thanks to everyone holding my hand through this process.

I didn’t notice any problems with my shocks until I pulled my 3,000lb. boat. You could easily feel the boat rocking the truck. Now I need to replace. Is there a clear number one shock to stiffen things up?

Look at the Bilstein 5165 I posted a link to earlier, the measurements are almost identical to stock shock but are a bit stiffer due to the universal valving, but if you carry a payload of around 400lbs in the bed or tow a lot it would be absolutely fine, to be honest it's probably what I'm going to do very soon, as in the month, trying to get the wife to agree, she's started the haven't you already spent enough on a new truck. 😔

Yeah, I think I should have waited a week and ordered those. The 5160s are very good but it looks like I'll be adding 500# to my normal payload in the next month or two

I'm hoping they work well enough for the occasional tow. I don't tow a ton, but I do occasionally with mild weight; nothing crazy...guess we'll have to see. They should be in this week I'm hoping.

depending on if you need the full articulation, either the Eibach's or the 5160s should work well for you. Heck, I may have a set of 5160s with under 1K miles available, shortly

I do want full articulation. That was part of my decision making process. I am hoping when I tow it doesn't make me regret it lol.

Well, anything will stiffen the rear more than stock. If the 5165s are 15% stiffer than the 5160s, they may be a little too much for you with an empty bed.

Anything new as far as coilovers - is the RC kit still the only tremor confirmed coil set?

After taking the truck with the stock shocks and the leveling puck on some trails, id much prefer having a full coil set in the future.

It's the only company that has "confirmed" Eibach says a combination of their front strut and coils work, however we are discussing rear shocks, supposedly Bilstein is working on a set for the Tremor, both front and rear to my understanding. I think with all of us calling and questioning companies about if this or that will work for the Tremor has gotten some of them working on stuff for it

@Yeti doesn't Bilstein have a trial period that you can return them for refund or swap them?

I’ll might take them off your hands if they stiffen the ride when pulling my boat but not to much when I’m empty. I do not do any serious off roading. The few occasions I am off roading where standard 4x4 trucks would struggle I go slow and easy.

5165 will work perfectly when fully loaded or over loaded even and pulling my 3,000 lb. boat? When fully empty riding by myself it will feel a bit stiff?

According to Bilstein they will be about 15% stiffer than the Bilstein that is valved for the F150, I myself find that hard to believe because most universal shocks are used for offroad builds which tend to be jeeps, 4 runners and such, which all tend to be lighter than the F150. That is what their tech told me though when I called and asked questions about it, he specifically said that around 400 lbs of weight in the bed or while towing it would handle better than the f150 valved ones.
They also supposedly are working on something specific for the Tremor as they say the springs are different than the standard f150. That is what they have said so other than taking their word for it all I can give is my opinion. It will be what I put on, unless they come out with something Tremor specific before hand.

So I should end up with a little over $500 in Ford Pass Points in a week or so thanks to the tire deal they had going on and I’m thinking pretty serious about trying out the Vertex if I can work it out to where I can use those points to get them. Haven’t confirmed that that’s an option yet but I speculate I can. Seems like they would be a good choice other than the price.

Hope they work for you .. Ebach talked me out of buying their shocks when I talked to them. They where not happy with test fi

The adjustability would be super handy, are they a rebuildable unit? I’d hope so for the price.

Honestly I have no idea. It didn’t say on the website anywhere that I could find. I think being adjustable would be really nice. Truth be told I probably wouldn’t have considered it if it weren’t for all those points I’m suppose to be getting. Now I’m thinking very seriously about it.

The vertex has adjustable damping or rebound, it is adjustable, has for rebuilding, being one of their top tier shocks I would hope so but can't say for certain, on a 2011 f150 I had the rancho 9000's which were adjustable and will say it did help while hauling or towing heavier loads.

Yes, poorly worded on my part. I meant I couldn’t find on the website if they are rebuildable or not. I have a buddy who just put them on a 22 XLT and he’s pretty happy with them but they are new enough to him that he’s still trying to figure out what setting he prefers for everyday driving.
