Tremor Rear Shock Options

Yes, poorly worded on my part. I meant I couldn’t find on the website if they are rebuildable or not. I have a buddy who just put them on a 22 XLT and he’s pretty happy with them but they are new enough to him that he’s still trying to figure out what setting he prefers for everyday driving.
With the ranchos, I found 2-3 being best for daily driving without a load, then used 6-7 for loads.

That’s exactly what I was guessing would be the ideal places to set the Vertex’s. I’m a little surprised there hasn’t been someone on here who’s tried the Vertex yet and there hasn’t seemed to be much interest in them.

Well some have tried the RC coilover available for the Tremor but other than initial thoughts they haven't posted anything else, the vertex is above most peoples price range, and then RC had a bad reputation for a few years there. I personally had a set of RC on an older vehicle and 3 of the shocks just snap so I'm wanting to hear more input on quality before I am willing to travel down that rabbit hole again. I am by no means saying they are bad just explaining my experience in the past.

Dying to get a set of coilovers on before NC trip in September, taking the truck on some big rocks in GA with the 2.5" leveling kit was... Not great, and the rear shocks really are lackluster.

I'm about to cave and get the RC ones, i wish Fox would just release a damn set already. I considered the icons but you get less than 2" lift up front so won't work for my tire wheel setup, and i think they have a super long lead time.

You could go the Eibach route, with their strut and 2.7 coil. Just a thought. Bilstein also has the new 6112 out that will fit supposedly but won't give the full lift.

That's why I opted not to go with a spacer because they do not work well if you do more than mild offroading. Also as much as everyone talks about poke, if you look at the pic in the Tremor of the month post you will see just how much flex these trucks have. Had my tire stuck out I would have damaged the fender, and that's just in my backyard.

As far as RC goes many have stated that quality has improved and it could be a viable option I just don't understand the lack of updates from those using them.

I second this. I haven’t used mine yet like you intend to use yours @Cranbery but I don’t think you’ll be disappointed in it for $485. My opinion, I assumed it would be a little higher quality than the standard RC line which is why I waited for it to come out. The ride over some nasty potholes and broken pavement is very much improved.

What you said about the RC rep and your experience make sense. I’m hoping the Vertex line is as good as what I’m hearing. They really interested me because they seem to be the closest to factory specs and I think being adjustable would be pretty nice. If you don’t like how the ride feels just get out and twist the knob.

If you do go that route let us know how they do, I'm currently set on the Bilstein 5165, but if those pan out who knows.

You plan to go with the RC ones out now or the vertex ones?

He did the Eibach strut and 2.7 coil up front, he's considering the vertex rear.

Yep, what he said. ^^^
Hey when you get a chance to try those Eibach set out let us know as well, that looks to be the only other possibility for now.

Eibach doesn't have a useable rear shock? What's up with these companies providing half suspensions

The shock is usable just a little short. The Tremor has an odd shock length and other than the vertex or getting a universal shock from one of the companies like the 5165 Bilstein nothing fits exact or super close.

When ordering the front setup I asked them about the rears and they said they weren’t happy with the test results. I asked how long it would be before they would release a viable set of rears and he acted like it was going to be several months, as in, didn’t even sound like it was on the radar. That being said, @Yeti has ran the Eibach rears and you can read what he had to say about them in the Eibach thread on here somewhere. I’ll post you the link if I can find it.

Here it is

Thanks for the info and research guys. I really want to switch it up, but I also just don't want a Frankenstein style suspension. I don't have the confidence in RC unfortunately lol, guineapigged some other stuff but I won't do that one until it's got more info/reviews. Guess I'll have to take it easy in NC.

I can understand that sentiment. I was a bit that way myself hoping that Fox/Eibach/Bilstein/someone would release front and rears. Waited six months for something like that to no avail. Ultimately I decided I didn’t really care if the brand on the back was different from the front as long as it rode like I wanted it to. I don’t think anyone is going to look at my truck and ask me why my red and silver Eibach shocks are different than my red and silver Vertex (If I get them). Believe me, I understand completely, I was just tired of waiting on something that’s already been a long time coming.

I get it myself that's why I currently am pestering Bilstein about coilovers and rear shocks. Aka I email them every other day, in hopes of getting them moving, on the days I'm not emailing them I'm asking other dealers to email them for me or even call. Maybe if we all did an email campaign with some of these companies we might get the ball rolling sooner.

Damn, thought you were gonna bite!

I’m in the same boat. After I recover from the PPF full front and ceramic I’m going to be in the market for coil overs and shocks. Really hope we can get a good option in the next few months.

I have a month from today when i need new rear shocks installed. No level kit, same size tires etc. sounds to me I have two choices Bilstein5165 or vertex?
