VIN#'s and Build Dates

I had ordered Dec 1 and had heard nothing. I got lucky and found a truck almost exactly like what I ordered on Feb 1 and bought it instead. There was someone else in line if I declined too. I talked to him and he had received a June build marked tentative for a truck ordered mid Nov. Hope Ford can get this all straightened out soon.

Love all the mod ideas. Hope to have my first wave done within the next month.

I've been watching the various build date threads for a few months now. I ordered mine 10/19. It was "built" sometime in December and then was supposed to be shipped early January. I now have a delivery date of 2/7, though it changed from 2/1, to 2/4, now to 2/7.

Watching other threads, I can assume that from the date of ordering, you have anywhere from a 3-5 month wait. Most seem to be right around 3 months from order to completion, but this was based off most orders I saw placed in the fall/early winter. With the next wave of this chip shortage, I expect things to delay a bit further.

Also labor forces are getting hit big with this more contagious omicron variant, so I expect that is not helping the situation for supply chains and manufacturing, let alone just transport.

There are some lucky folks, that seem to have been straight lined with 2.5 month wait times. People that have ordered after me have received their trucks, but I bet there are a few that ordered before me, still waiting as well. I probably took more time because my truck is loaded 402a as well.

Looking back I feel I got a decent build and delivery, though frustrating it sat for so long close to the desler waiting for a truck.

Ordered 402A with every option and bedliner on 10/29, delivered 01/31, which is basically 3 months despite the bedliner and options, as well as the holidays. I do believe deleting the auto start/stop helped.

Well, as per the usual when you are waiting, I updated the tracker again this evening. Now it says 2/11. I probably wouldn't care as much if I didnt sell my old truck (2013 FX4). I was anticipating a mid January delivery. Lesson learned.

End of the day, I'm barely creeping up on 4 months from start to finish. Obviously I hope it is delivered soon, but I know what I was getting into with this current environment. I need more patience and it will end up showing up eventually. We all hope sooner than later. At least mine is built. I'm just waiting on shipping to Florida, which with current weather and pandemic BS can be more challenging.

Wonder if they will keep building even with the chip shortage? There is a lot of use with new eta delivery dates in March and April now

Ordered mine on 12/2, got my vin and build date of 2/14 a week later. Got an email two days ago my build date is pushed to 2/28. I’m mostly worried about the build happening and then a three month delay for chips…

Did anyone get their VIN#/build date today? I'm a little over a month past the order date, and I know for a lot of people that was the sweet spot for getting theirs. I haven't gotten mine yet, so I'm just trying to see if build dates/VIN#'s are still going out or if chip delays are also delaying every other part of the process.

I ordered a week ahead of you, I would prepare for a very long wait at this point.......

Ford Confirms Production Will Be Rolled Back at Some Plants This Week

A Ford spokesman tells Barron's that there will be shutdowns at some company locations next week.

Some good news? Our trucks should still keep coming since built in Dearborn correct?

"Reuters reported production at factories in Michigan, Chicago and in Cuautitlan, Mexico, will be suspended beginning on Monday. A single shift or a reduced schedule will be run at the company’s factories in Dearborn, Michigan and Louisville."

I ordered a week ahead of you, I would prepare for a very long wait at this point.......

I ordered Nov 1 with blend date of 1/10 and have a 402A high with moonroof…..and bumped to 5/3/22
and sold my daily driver last week

Man - we missed the boat by a few days. It seems all the guys with the week before us got the last of the chips!

ordered 10/19 went into production 1/12. Just got off the phone with ford. Its being set off to the side due to the chip shortage. New eta to dealer is 4/24

Man, that's frustrating. I guess that puts things in perspective for me though, I'd rather have mine not yet built than sitting.

I'm with you there. I'd rather get a build date that's a few months away than have it built now and sit for a few months waiting for a chip. Of course I probably won't be saying that when those trucks start being delivered and mine hasn't been built yet. Oh well, when I was originally thinking about getting a new truck, everyone was saying builds were taking a year so I kind of prepared myself for that.

Damn these are pushing out. Hopefully it improves. That would be about a 5 mo turn around time. When I ordered in Nov it should have been a 3 mo turn around without any chip issues.
