What's new

What are your pet peeves so far

My only issue right now is that my '23 has developed some sort of snapping or clicking noise somewhere in the driver side corner of the dash, I think. I only hear it if I hit a pothole or RR crossing or anything that causes the front tires to bounce. I tried spraying the door hinges with white lithium grease but that made no difference which was not surprising as I would expect a noisy hinge to be more noticeable when opening the door which it is not. My '18 had a similar cab noise but it turned out to be the moonroof tracks needing re-lubed. I haven't had the dealer look at it yet. My '23 also has a moonroof so who knows? I do have a tube of the special grease for the moonroof tracks so I'll probably give that a shot but I don't really think that's where it's coming from. It's crazy sometimes how sounds travel...Hell, I suppose it could even be a loose shock mount. I'll be rotating the tires on Monday so I'll check for loose suspension parts when I have that wheel/tire off.

Something else just occurred to me. The dealer I bought the truck from installed a Roush CAI. That's also on that side of the truck. Experience has taught me that if something goes wrong the most likely culprit is whatever has been changed from stock...

Just picked up a new to me with 8,000 miles 402A Tremor and the driver side door or A pillar rattles around 20-30 mph but goes away at higher speeds. Very frustrating.
I came across your post right after I posted something similar. Let us know if you find the culprit and I'll do the same.

Same. Really need a fix, I double sided taped the rubber on the B pillar to the trim piece but still makes noise. I also have the rain deflectors installed, and now my window won't stay up when I put it up. Very annoying
Man I have the b pillar rattle too. The parts are so loose I thought they were put together wrong....

Rattle over certain road surfaces that seems to be coming from the glove box handle. Goes away when I open the glove box. The glove box stays open until I care enough to try and fix it. Though it's only audible when I have the radio off. So this gives me an excuse to jam out to my Manilow collection to get pumped up before hitting the gym.

So I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume you're either not married or have an extremely understanding better half. ;)

On my driver side cab noise, I played around with the airbox for the Roush CAI. That seemed tight but I did notice a similar sound to what I could hear from the driver's seat when I flexed the air intake "funnel" that pulls intake air from the top of the radiator core support. That appears to be the original part but it does attach to the Roush airbox. I temporarily jammed a piece of wood under the funnel just to see if the noise went away. So far I haven't heard the noise again but just like Bourbonncigars I've probably had the stereo too loud to hear it. However, I'm happy to say that I do not have a Manilow collection.

On that A-pillar clicking noise, I found a YouTube vid of what seems to be the problem with a fix.

I also have a recurring issue with the blasted window bounce-back nonsense. Back in the early fall of 2024 I had the dealer do the TSB that updates the front door window control modules by reducing the sensitivity level. I haven't had it happen again until today. I was kind of expecting this might come back once warmer outside temps started climbing back above 60°F. That seems to be the breaking point for when this crap starts. My theory is that warmer temps cause the window seals to expand which creates more resistance in the window tracks. I had the bounce-back thing happen twice today and both times I did the reset procedure from the owner's manual.

My question is if the dealer has already done the TSB why does crap like this keep coming back and why other electronic things that worked fine for years suddenly go haywire? I'm starting to suspect these damned over the air updates are messing with perfectly good settings for no good reason. Farley needs to either ask Elon where he finds his programmers or give us the option of blocking their stupid updates.

I don't like that it automatically shifts into park when you open the door, even when moving. That's probably fixable in Forscan(?) but it led to somewhat of a surprise the first time it happened (at low speed).

Can’t change that with Forscan

I’d suggest making sure the edges of the window that go into the seals, as well as the seals are cleaned well. Next I would use a good rain repellent on those windows including the actual edges on the glass. Spray ceramic can work too if it’s good on glass. Mine only has 3.5k miles on it and I noticed the windows seemed to struggle a tiny bit going up. Typically every other Ford I have had has fast up/down windows but not so much with this one. I cleaned the glass and used DIY Detail Ceramic Gloss and the windows move up much easier and quicker now.

I wish Ford would have made the parking brake a little more automatic efficient. First, I’d like a settings option to have it apply automatically when you put it in park. It applies now automatically when on a slope but not on flat ground. Second, I’d like it to release when I put my foot on the brake to shift out of park. Now, it stays applied until I press the accelerator and it produces a little lunge that I don’t care for. I know that a ticky-tacky complaint. 🤷‍♂️

I can see how that would be annoying, as someone who road hunts, it’s actually really nice.

I have to come to a stop very quickly and get out. Knowing my vehicle isn’t going to runaway from me is nice.

Location of the parking brake button by the gear shift lever. Seems like a more efficient location, much like my wife's Aviator.
I test drove a 24 tundra for fun since my buddy works at the dealer.

That was the first thing I noticed. The things you want at right by your resting hand are there. The transfer case shifter, drive modes, lockers, etc.

The drive modes are nice but much like @Escape Hatch’s gripe, I very much dislike the transfer case shifter location and mechanism of operation.

I don’t like that it’s a selectable button. I’d much rather have something like the previous gen F150s with a dial that locks the drive mode into what you selected previously.

If I have to get out of my truck and turn off the ignition it looses memory, and I have to either go back to the drive mode or hit the button again. I’m offroad often and it gets annoying

Mine ask me if I want to use the last mode used when the engine cut off if it’s not normal mode. Problem is it gives you only like 3secs and if you aren’t looking at the gauge lcd you will miss it and it will go back to normal

Right. I wish there was a setting somewhere to keep the drive mode so I don’t have to hit ok every time I fire her up.

Where to start

I can see that. Just feels like it'd be bad for the truck when it happens while in motion. I don't mind it at a stop, but it's happened while moving.

Besides, I'm in a Tremor. If I wanna hunt something, I'll just run it over. Saves time and ammo, gets some off-roading in, and most importantly, the meat's already tenderized and gutted a la Mickey Thompson. Take that Michelin-starred restaurants!

I’be never had it do it in motion, only when I come to a stop <1mph.
